FENCES:

Denzel Washington and Vila Davis are mesmerizing in their roles playing a husband and wife trying to raise a family in 1950’s Pittsburgh. Based on the August Wilson play, the film version does feel like you’re watching a play on screen. Washington and Davis are so emotionally raw that it’s hard no to be engrossed by what you’re witnessing. Majority of the film takes place in the backyard and home of these characters, but it doesn’t even matter as the words from the script are so compelling that the words are at the center of all the action. This is a master class of acting on film.
