  1. i completely agree…this movie was just flat out bad…you gt it dead on with that half hour outerlimits reference

if yu enjoyed this movie chances are you paid to see date movie or epic movie…please get better taste

  2. Hey Sydney ;) Your electrical socket comment is too funny lol. That’s another movie I haven’t seen yet – Lady In the Water. From what you said, I’m guessing it should stay that way. Yeah, I watched the review for No. 23 on Spill, and they said it was pretty bad haha. Like adding up a bunch of nos. and events, that don’t even make any sense, blah. But The Departed…that’s some good stuff!

  5. I would say that this is a rental movie. If you for some reason feel the need to see it do your self a favor and wait a couple months. In other words I didn’t like it.

  6. I hear you all the way Janners. Even though I saw Giohn’s review before I saw Lady In The Water, I still saw it because I had a lot of respect for M. Night. I almost wanted to go stick a fork in an electrical socket (it was that bad). I now know never to do that again (not based on Giohn’s reviews entirely, but if all the evidence points to the film being really bad, I won’t watch it).

  7. About The Number 23:

I liked it, ok, when i first went into it i thought it was going to have more action beuz of the trailer. but, it was deff slower then i thought, and it was not all that bad, i dug it, Jim was great and he did not throw in his hey look at me i’m funny act. I loved the look of it and the production was kool, the tattoo on his Story charther was sweet, and over all it was good, now was it a great film? , no, was it a entertaining film?, yes, would i see it agian,,umm no. but it was good for a first watch… and thats that.

    Jarrod-

  8. I didn’t think it was that bad. Much better than anything else that came out this weekend, and miles ahead of Reno 911, which you actually made sound better than The Number 23.

  9. I dunno about a 3. I agree with most of what you said, the logic jumps were stretched a bit and it got a little movie, but to say there were absolutely no thrills at all is a stretch itself man. A few of the fun little facts about 23, about when Carrey says announces who he thinks the author of the book is with the flashbacks to clips in the movie, that was exciting. This was definitely a better film than Ghost Rider. 5 out of 10 =)
Performances were great, especially Jim C

  10. I was actually thinking Tales From The Darkside when I first saw the trailers air. Okay… here’s the thing… I hate Jim Carrey as over the top funny, much like I don’t like him trying too hard to be all serious and dramtic and romantic and shit. He was more tempered in Dick & Jane, and I rather liked that performance, and he was great in Eternal Sunshine (but, really, he played a dude with a blob for a brain for half of the movie, so really anyone could have been good in that role) and then there was Lemony Snicketts… another flick where he’s over the top. I didn’t bother with The Grinch or anything, really, after he did a shiteous job of playing earnest in Man In The Moon. (Remember the scene at the end when he rode up in the taxi to whatever mystical place he was going to for his miracle treatment? Think back to the goofy expression on his face. That was Jim trying to play sick yet with hope in his eyes. I laughed out loud in the cinema. Joe was furious with me for embarrassing him like that.)

So, yeah, I wasn’t really expecting much beyond Joe telling me he was interested in seeing it because he loves him a great thriller movie (as evidenced by our massive DVD movie collection), but he said to me the other night that this one looks like a dog (ironic given the character’s profession, no?). We’ll be skipping this one. Even on pirated PPV, thank you! :-)

  11. I loved it. :P
Yes it jumped from Paranoia to some pretty mind stretching non-coincidences, but tbh I think any supernatural explanation would have been the same. In fact this way at least they satisfy the Mulder & the Scully.

It didn’t totally turn around & say – okay nope there is nothing supernatural happening. Nor did it say there is, leaving ample room for some personal pensive afterthought.

    My 2 cents.

  12. I agree with a lot of what was said about the ending and how the performances weren’t what to blame, but seriously, a 3? I left that movie saying, “it was alright for a whatever movie.” but yea, you gave ghost rider a better score? come on John, you’re not helping me out when I say people to listen to your opinion, haha.

  13. John, is it Giovanni or John? I realize that is essentially the same name, but you used “Gio” for a review earlier, saying you wanted to use that name on the ‘Blog. However, shortly after that you reverted back to John, even changing the name on the original posts. Now “Gio” is back. I’m not complaining, I only seek your reasoning.

Further, without actually seeing the review I can tell it’s going to be bad. I didn’t really like it either, but I wanted to =(
