X-Men 97 Episode 3 Recap and Review

*Spoilers ahead for episode 3 of X-Men 97*

In X-Men 97 episode 3, titled “Fire Made Flesh,” the team faces one of their darkest challenges yet. Beast discovers that the mysterious woman who appeared at the end of the previous episode is indeed the real Jean Grey. Meanwhile, the villainous Mister Sinister reveals that the other Jean is a clone he created, intended to infiltrate and manipulate the X-Men.

Sinister gains control over the clone, turning her into the menacing Goblin Queen. The clone kidnaps Nathan and subjects the X-Men to horrific visions crafted from their deepest fears. As the team grapples with these nightmares, Morph, previously corrupted by Sinister, leads them to one of Sinister’s hidden labs. Here, they find Sinister infecting Nathan with a techno-organic virus, believing it will make the child invincible.

X-Men 97 Episode 3 Review:

Key Moments and Character Development

Jean Grey confronts her clone telepathically, using their shared memories to break Sinister’s control. This climactic battle sees the clone, now taking the name Madelyne Pryor, and Cyclops working together to save Nathan, though he remains gravely ill. In a desperate move, the X-Men send Nathan with their time-traveling ally, Bishop, in hopes of finding a cure in the future.

Madelyne Pryor, now freed from Sinister’s influence, leaves the X-Men to seek her own path. This emotional episode highlights the themes of identity and resilience while setting up significant plotlines for future episodes.
