Comedy Central’s Roast of James Franco pokes fun at his career

Last night Comedy Central aired another one of their very popular roasts. While many of the roasts have centered around celebrities who have passed the peak of their career, last night’s roast was centered around one of Hollywood’s A-Listers. James Franco, being the roastee, was accompanied by a number of high profile entertainers such as the host, Seth Rogen, and others like Jonah Hill, Aziz Ansari, Andy Samberg, and Bill Hader. The focus of the roast was centered around the bad film choices Franco had made throughout his career but roasters also made jokes referencing some homosexual tendencies, his variety of projects he’s been working on, and his lack of effort when hosting the Oscars. Below are some of the jokes/insults given by the roasters.

Jonah Hill: You know how you always hear George Clooney and other big movie stars saying, ‘My philosophy for making movies is: one for them and one for me.’ But not my guy James. James is a rebel. He has his own philosophy on this: one for them, five for nobody.

Aziz Ansari: Wow, so many gay jokes about James Franco tonight. Apparently if you’re clean, well dressed and mildly cultured, you’re super gay now. Is that why the rest of you guys are so aggressively fat and dirty? You think if you read one book and take a shower, dicks are just gonna fly into your face?

There were a variety of funny moments throughout the roast but some were so raunchy and vulgar that you would have to experience them for yourselves. It aired September 2 and I’m sure it will be playing quite a bit more on Comedy Central. Make sure you catch it because even if you don’t like the humor, it’s interesting to see these celebrities out of their comfort zone.
