Poster: Michael Bay’s Pain and Gain

Despite popular opinion I’m happy to admit that I’m pretty much a fan of Michael Bay. He’s not the kind of director I’d go to if I wanted to see some thought-provoking narrative or performances but he’s the director who’s fun. Bay makes movies for the pure spectacle of enjoying an exaggerated look at life in a variety of fun ways and I’ve liked most of his work since Bad Boys. Despite a few misfires I remain a fan of his work and look forward to his projects. His next film that he’s releasing before getting back to the Transformers franchise is Pain and Gain.

Pain and Gain comes from a 1999 article from the Miami New Times, showcasing two bodybuilders (Johnson, Wahlberg) who get involved in kidnapping and extortion plans, which take a turn for the worse.  Imagine that.  The film comes in with a $20 million budget as well, peanuts to a big spender like Bay.

I like this poster. It’s a really clever poster and suits the premise of a story about body builders. The film stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, and Anthony Mackie.

That’s all for now…
