Eloise in Paris

Eloise In Paris-1We get word today that the children’s classic Eloise in Paris will be make its way to the screen of silver. This information was obtained from the glorious caves of Yahoo:

Eloise, the precocious girl immortalized by author Kay Thompson in the 1950s, is headed for the big screen for the first time in a feature film starring a little-known Australian actress in the title role. Jordana Beatty, 9, will play the spirited Eloise, who lives in the Plaza Hotel in New York with her dog and her turtle, in “Eloise in Paris,” producer HandMade Films said on Wednesday.

It said it was the first of various Eloise projects over the years to be made as a major motion picture. Beatty, of Sydney, Australia, was cast after more than 4,000 girls were auditioned around the world for the part. She has been acting in television and commercials in Australia since the age of 4. Uma Thurman, the star of the “Kill Bill” movies and “Pulp Fiction,” will play Nanny in the movie that starts shooting in August. Thompson’s Eloise tales, illustrated by Hilary Knight, are among the most beloved U.S. children’s classics.

I am not familiar with this series of books, but if anyone is: please fill us in on the details and share your thoughts on the matter!

I will say that Uma Thurman would make an excellent nanny character and I think it will be a delight to see her in that role. I wasn’t a fan of Uma till Kill Bill kicked my ass, and she forced allegiance out of me. She followed up this performance with an amazing showing in the Producers as the mysterious and sultry Ula. I am now fond of Uma and enjoy watching her play a spectrum of roles; nanny included.

Jordana Beatty has beast out 4000 other girls for the role and already has 5 years of acting experience under her belt at the age of 9!? This young lady certainly sounds like she has earned her place at the top of applicant mountain; will this film do for her what Harry Potter has done for Emma Watson?

We will be sure to keep you posted on this children’s story and once again – if you are in the know, please share!
