GHOSTBUSTERS 3… sans Bill Murray

Oh my stars and garters. It seems that the day has finally come in which we actual factual progress will be made to the Ghostbusters proposed third film. Exciting times with Sigourney Weaver, Dan Akroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Harold Ramis all set to return with one, massive, omission for the film: BILL MURRAY

The seeming impossible feat of getting the film off the ground has been accomplished but at the cost of the films’ biggest star. It’s unlikely but possible that Rick Moranis will return as he’s probably still enjoying the life of retirement but we’ve got confirmation on the ommission of Peter Venkman’s character from the producer and co-star of the film Dan Akroyd as well as confirmation for plans to “pass the torch” to a new generation of Ghostbusters:

“It’s sad but we’re passing it on to a new generation. Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill. My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn’t seem to be coming and we have to move on. It’s time to make the third one.”

“Yes, we’ve got a brilliant new writer on it and we’ll be passing the torch on to a new generation. We’re working on it to make it just right to satisfy our fans. I’m confident we’ll be in production in the next year … now we’ve got the studio on side. We’ve tried a few concepts which weren’t right but now we’ve got a good structure and will make it happen.”

“My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can’t drive the cadillac,” he said, ”He’s got a bad knee and can’t carry the packs… Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that’s the promise. We’re gonna hand it to a new generation.”

A lot of us thought that this would be a possibility considering the stagnation of the film over the years mainly over the disbelief by star Bill Murray that the film should be made and that perception has not escaped Bill one bit over the years. It saddens me that we won’t see the return of Peter Venkman in cinemas. A lot actually cus now they’re messing with my nostalgic fondness for this proposed film. Sure on one hand they’re planning to pass the torch on to the next generation anyway but on the other I’d like to see where some of my characters are in life. How much time has passed? Where’s Slimer? What’s happened since the last time we’ve seen them? Where’s Slimer? And more importantly, is Oscar a Ghostbuster?
