  1. After seeing the trailer on TV I decided to pick up THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER – for my 10 yr old son to read because it reminded me of THE BREAKFAST CLUB. Luckily he was in the middle of another series and could not be bothered, so I read it. In my protective motherly opinion, the book and I suspect the movie is definitely not for tween consumption. The story weaves around the following subjects: suicide, suicidal thoughts, teen sex, teen pregnancy, teen drinking, pot, LSD, rape, homosexuality, incest, molestation, depression, mental illness, and abortion. All worthy subjects to study, however, I’m not sure my sons ready to be exposed them now, and all at one time. Just an FYI for you parents out there who think this might be a good movie for your kiddo.
