Glee’s Heather Morris is Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Wrong.

The very best part of Glee is Heather Morris. The ditzy cheerleader spouts some of the best lines in the show and she is utterly beautiful and former backup dancer for Beyonce can move. I just love watching her dance.

So when rumours hit online that she was being cast in the lead of the much doubted cinematic remake/reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I was intrigued. But as fast as the rumour set fire, the person writing the script shot it down.

Bloody Disgusting says:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Screenwriter Whit Anderson, via Twitter, also denied any casting rumors. “Careful what you retweet, loves. Inaccuracy can cause lots of unnecessary stress,” she wrote. When asked directly about the Morris casting rumor, first reported by sci-fi blog Blastr.com, Anderson replied: “We’re not even *thinking* about casting yet. The script isn’t even written!”

While I think this casting would at least amuse me, (despite my doubts that a Buffy Reboot would even work without Whedon) I think Heather Morris in the role would easily win a couple points of favour.

But that was just a fabricated myth of a rumour that some sites are STILL reporting as true.

I am not against reboots, but with something that STILL has a strong cult following, the logical thing to do would be to leap ahead and start a new generation. Reboot the franchise but build it on the massive Buffyverse we already know instead of trying to start again.

I know no one thinks it could be good .. but it could.

  1. I wish they did a movie on the Buffyverse but maybe a ‘sequal’ style. Either as a movie based in the 8th or 9th season so that the TV isn’t shoved aside and maybe will grab new viewers and owners.

Or grab a NEW slayer. Having the Buffyverse, have it in whatever sense you want, but don’t recast the ‘scoobie gang’ just make a new slayer. Buffy already has a movie before the show and I think that a movie after the show isn’t a bad idea, just risky if not effectively done.

  2. Heather Morris would make a fantastic Buffy in my opinion because she is very outgoing and humorous but I can alternatively see her being very serious and fitting the part well.

  3. I think they should make it how Joss Whedon intended the first movie to be made. An intense action flick with the damsel in distress being the super hero, and some light comedy on the side. Just like the television series. I would see that even with different actors.
