Emily Blunt talks Captain America

Emily Blunt has twice been considered for roles in Marvel Superhero films, and she talks about why she turned them down.

Worst Previews says:

“I’m a big supporter of [director] Joe Johnston and I think that ‘Captain America’ is going to be really fun and I gather that the story is really interesting,” said Blunt. “It just wasn’t what I wanted to do next, to be honest.”

She continued: “There’s definitely a high commitment level and I’m not someone who likes to plan too much ahead. That would also be an issue for me as well. I think for me the job always has to be the right thing at the right time. Neither of them happened to be that.”

That wasn’t at all vague. “I just don’t wanna” seems to be the final verdict there.

As much as I think Blunt would have been great as the love interest in a World War 2 Captain America film, she would have been playing the love interest in an era the Cap leaves behind. Not much of a commitment there, but she was likely referring to the role of Black Widow in Iron Man 2 (that she declined) that would have kept her around.

Sounds like she just doesn’t dig the superhero roles.

  1. She’s rancid baby. And if she doesn’t want the role, she should just say so. I predict that Capt America will suck. Between this bird and Johnny Storm, I now have little interest. Really unfortunate as the comic book lover that I am.

    1. i cant help but think after reading you comment that you think she is in the movie which she is not and how do you know it will suck give one pieace of evidence one solid piece that it will suck. it ok to say you have little interest but on less you have a reason that you know it will suck your just full of crap.
