With Green Lantern steaming straight ahead, they still hadn’t picked who would play Hal’s girlfriend Carol Ferris.
I am sure they knew, they just were not talking. Now it looks like Blake Lively will be snogging with Ryan Reynolds in the film.
Current info says that the shortlist for Green Lantern’s primary female character Carol Ferris — an aerospace company exec and the woman who hires test pilot Hal Jordan, who becomes Green Lantern — included Keri Russell, Jennifer Garner and Blake Lively. The gig has gone to Lively, and she’ll prep to shoot the film in March in Louisiana.
Blake Lively sure is a pretty girl, so we wont have any problem thinking that he would fall head over heels for her. And even on Gossip Girl where this 22 year old actress is trying to pass off as 18 she still looks far more mature for her age (might have something to do with the fake breasts you don’t often see on girls so young – that are not adult media stars) so I am no longer worried about her age.
Yeah there will be a gap since Reynolds won’t be passing as 25. But she’s serious eyecandy so the fanboys will love her. As long as she has dark hair.
For me its not THAT big of a deal. But I suspect she will be a brunette for this film. The fanboys will go absolutely crazy if she is not. Yeah she makes a pretty tasty blonde, and I am sure she will look classy as hell in an Ally McBeal pantsuit even with dark hair.
I will wait to see her “in action” before I pass judgement, but in the previous post about the Green Lantern’s girlfriend shortlist I would have picked anyone BUT Lively.
If they decide to spinoff with the Star Sapphire persona Ferris eventually adopts (a super powered opposition to GL) I wouldnt mind seeing lively in spandex.

As a longtime GL reader (starting in the mid-1960’s its great to see this coming to fruition. I haven’t seen Lively act so I’ll defer to others on that aspect. Carol Ferris had black hair as an slight fyi.
Now, when is the BIG DC January 2010 Project announcement happening..the suspense is killing me???????????
I could care less who thy picked but wow you sure are pretty positive she has fake breasts. she’s 22 and her breasts are probably perky because she’s 22! I doubt they’re fake and she probably just has them taped up inside her low cut gowns she wears to awards shows since she obviously can’t wear a bra with those gowns.
I’d like to see Hugo Weaving as Sinestro and maybe Jason Isaacs as Hector Hammond. If they cast those two guys, this film will be awesome.
I’ll reserve judgment on this until I see the movie. As long as the writers make her look and act like Carol Ferris is supposed to be in the comics, then no problem. Yeah, I’d like her hair dyed black coz Ferris’s hair is black not blonde. Will she have on-screen chemistry with Ryan Reynolds, that remains to be seen.
Garner? yeah maybee in like 1st season of Alias but she has not aged well at all for an actress and was TERRIBLE in the Electra movie.lumpy ass and all.
Well other than the fact that she’s a blonde, looks nothing like the comic book character, and is on a tv show that I shun like the bubonic plague, she’s perfect. For God’s sake, she was a better choice, with a better acting pedigree, than Eva Green or a brunette Keri Russell, who at least look the part? Really?
Yea, this didn’t sit too well with me either. This is obviously a strategical move by the CW knowing that Blake Lively is there it girl.
I don’t know if she has the chops for this, but I guess its not up to us and can only hope they made the right choice.
