Brosnon replaces Gere in Seraphim Falls

According to JoBlo, Pierce Brosnan is set to replace Richard Gere in the movie Seraphim Falls:

It was announced during the Cannes Film Festival that Gere would co-star with Neeson but the former since dropped out of the production for unknown reasons. Brosnan has stepped in to fill his shoes and join Neeson in the directorial debut of David Von Ancken (“The Shield”). The movie, written by Von Ancken and Abbey Everett Jaques, takes place during the Civil War and follows Army Colonel Carver (Neeson) who swears revenge on Brosnan’s character Gideon and pursues him across the West to meet that goal. Mel Gibson is producing the film through his Icon Entertainment production company.

Most of that just washed over me with a real big feeling of just another news story, the bit that really sticks out for me is the news that Von Ancken is set to direct a movie. The Shield is a superb TV show, and it’ll be really interesting to see how he moves to film, especially with the huge leap of subject matter.

This could honestly be the first movie for Brosnan totally away from Bond. I’d say now the rumours of him returning are wholly quashed, and there is no doubt he will not be the next Bond, despite those stories that he was holding out for a new pay deal.
