‘Edge of Darkness’ trailer online

This was released a few days ago, but obviously because of the Christmas weekend, it has been pretty slow for news. So here is Mel Gibson’s new movie trailer, Edge of Darkness.

Moviesonline.ca gives us the 411:

EDGE OF DARKNESS is an emotionally charged thriller set at the intersection of politics and big business. Thomas Craven (Mel Gibson) is a veteran homicide detective for the Boston Police Department and a single father.

When his only child, twenty-four year old Emma (Bojana Novakovic), is murdered on the steps of his home, everyone assumes that he was the target. But he soon suspects otherwise, and embarks on a mission to find out about his daughter’s secret life and her murder. His investigation leads him into a dangerous looking-glass world of corporate cover-ups, government collusion and murder — and to CIA operative Darius Jedburgh (Ray Winstone) who has been sent in to clean up the evidence. Craven’s solitary search for answers about his daughter’s death transforms into an odyssey of emotional discovery and redemption.

For me, Mel Gibson is as can’t miss as you can get. This looks, meh, good. It will probably be a solid movie, but the trailer doesn’t do much for me.

    1. This guy should never be allowed back in film or any other public forum. He’s a disgrace to the human race. If I see him on TV, I change the station. He needs to crawl in a hole and drink himself to liver failure. He probably has a shrine to Hitler in his undeserved mansion.

  1. Love Martin Campbell Casino Royale action style is shown in the trailer with close quarters combat, flipped cars, and well a bad ass Gibson killing some gangsters and maybe some cops.

  2. Question, how is this taken-lite when the daughter in this film actually gets killed and there is more of a story to this movie than just a straight action thriller.

Early reviews online of this movie prove the Us trailer and the UK trailer are decieving. There is not as much action as the trailers would lead you to believe.

    1. Come on Scarcy, you know the rule! Whenever there’s a hugely popular movie, any movie that follows with a similar theme will be immediately written off as a copy of said movie, even if it’s a major stretch to find those similarities. It’s not like Taken was the first “father seeks revenge or breaks the law to save his child” movie. Does anyone remember Death Wish?

  3. This is a remake/re adaptation of a classic 1980’s BBC series of the same name. The plot deals with a detective whos’ daughter is murdered. It turns out the government carried out the hit because she uncovered a secret nuclear facility and was planning to expose it to the world. The detectives role is to figure out why and who murdered her. The original series was much less action orientated so I’ll be interested to see how this turns out.

  4. Ya the trailer is good and I don’t know if I agree with you DirkAnger. Its similar to Taken, but is clearly different from Taken. The Daughter in this case is clearly not innocent. Nor is the film about rescuing the daughter, but in uncovering her secret.

    1. Taken his daughter was taken this she is killed he goes for revenge not to rescue if anything its like Man on Fire but with a superior director and different setting cause we know she dead from sure from the trailer.
