Aronofsky Declines Tales from the Gangster Squad

We reported a while ago that Darren Aronofsky, known for his dark and serious films was being considered for Wolverine 2. But WB was not that eager to let him out of their bullpen after he wasn’t chosen for the Superman Reboot and quickly offered him Tales From the Gangster Squad.

Now it seems that Aronofsky has declined WB’s offer and is very close to signing the deal with Fox.

Dark Horizons says:

“Black Swan” and “Requiem for a Dream” helmer is close to being locked down for the “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” sequel which would reunite him with his “The Fountain” co-star Hugh Jackman.

Fox hasn’t closed a deal with Aronofsky as yet, but has apparently offered him a $5 million paycheck against 5% of the grosses to direct.

I think I really want to see Aronofsky take on Wolverine because he seems so NOT a fit for a superhero movie. But it could work, and considering how they are taking the superhero genre more serious, why not hire a serious director?

  1. Dark would be better for sure w/ this character.

just keep an eye on your print or file so it dosen’t get played on every dvd player on earth before it gets released!
