Weekend Boxoffice Report – June 25th – 27th

Toy Story 3 is still holding to its comfy spot at the top of the hill maintaining a healthy lead on two other new releases.

Boxoffice Mojo has the estimates:

Toy Story 3 – $59,000,000 – 2wks
Grown Ups – $41,000,000 – Opening
Knight & Day – $20,500,000 – Opening
The Karate Kid – $15,400,000 – 3wks
The A-Team – $6,000,000 – 3wks

I wasn’t at all suprised that Toy Story 3 still held the top spot. The competition wasn’t all that strong. Both Grown Ups and Knight and Day were trending poorly, and they might have over estimated how poorly as some sites were predicting that Karate Kid might have taken the second spot.

Karate Kid was surprisingly better than expected, but I didnt think it was going to hold on in its third week against two other new releases. Next weekend however, I am certain Toy Story won’t be in the top spot. Twilight is coming out, and I predict it will have the biggest opening for a Twilight film.

What did you see this weekend?
