We all know that The Dark Knight’s sequel will be released on July 20th 2012. We’ve had plenty of rumors and gossip surrounding this movie. What villain/villains would fight Batman? What actors would portray them? But most important, nobody has been able to confirm that director Christopher Nolan would be involved in doing the sequel. He’s talked and danced around it, but nobody has confirmed it. Finally, now we have some sort of confirmation…
In an interview with MTV Chris confirms that not only do they have a release date picked out for the next Batman in 2012, he’s hard at work writing the script. He says, “We know we’re aiming for 2012 [as a release date]. That’s been talked about. We’re just working on the script, really. My brother has been hard at work on it for quite some time. It’s based on a story that myself and David Goyer have written.”
Everyone knew he would be coming back. I love when a director takes a challenge like this, straight up. I mean, it’s a pretty big challenge. What am I talking about? Well, how about coming back, bringing the whole cast back, add some new actors/villains, and try to close out a big moneymaking franchise. And worse, try following up TDK – probably the best superhero/comics movie ever made. That’s a pretty big challenge right there.
But be not afraid, Nolan’s the guy for the job. We all have faith in him delivering at least a satisfying finale to his Batman trilogy. Now that he admits to being in the writing process, let the rumors start once again on what the plot will be and who the actors/villains might be…
