Olivia Wilde Joins Cowboys vs Aliens

Seems right on the heels of the news that Robert Downey Jr had left Cowboys and Aliens only to be replaced by Daniel Craig (the polar opposite of RDJ personality) we now get news that Olivia Wilde will be joining the western/scifi as a female gunslinger named Ella.

Cinematical says:

Wilde will play Ella, a woman who joins Craig’s mysterious gunslinger to fight off the aliens. (Is the gunslinger now mysterious and no longer named Zeke Jackson? Curious.) I’m not sure if Ella appeared in the original graphic novel / web-comic. There was a female gunfighter named Verity who traded bullets with the Apache right alongside Zeke. Perhaps she’ll be a variation on that character, or she’ll be a pioneer woman with a rifle, or she’ll be one of the West’s soiled doves like Megan Fox in Jonah Hex.

I am not familiar enough with the comic to know who she is supposed to be playing, but I am always up for a little eyecandy in my action films.

Olivia Wilde qualifies for that, but hopefully she will be more of a character than eyecandy. The comparison to Fox being in Hex for the candy is accurate, but I hope that Wilde delievers something a little more.

  1. Year one was pretty much unwatchable, I agree.
Harold Ramis should be ashamed of himself. That’s what happens when you smoke too much ganja and think shits funny when it’s not.
best line in that film: “Why does everybody have to take a dump behind MY hut?!”
    $5.99 on demand wasted!

    1. oh man, $5.99 is painful to admit too for Year One viewing, We have all made that mistake more than once though!

Ramis must have himself a grow room in the basement cause that movie was warped.

  2. Who can be upset when Olivia Wilde joins the cast of anything?

Heck even in that stinker “year One” with Jack Black I couldn’t take my eyes off her, she is just stunning.

feelings are still mixed about this project overall. Maybe they should have adapted something a little more intense like from the Image comics “Fear Agent”. Now that is something I would really like to see on the big screen!

  3. This is Faveru’s flick?

Always enjoy his work from Swingers/Made-Zathura-Ironman..

he knows what the audience wants to see and feel..

so even if Craig is in it I will go and see.
