Razzies Worst of 2009 Nominees Online

Clearly you cannot take any film TOO seriously or you will give yourself an aneurysm over something you have zero control over, but with all the honour and glory being dished to the biggest films of the last year, its also fun to point out that every year has its stinkers too. The “awards” you don’t want to get – The Razzies, has chosen today to announce their list of the Worst of the Year as well as some special “Worst of the Decade” Nominations.

Now this is the ugly end of the subjectivity of film. If someone says they like a great movie, you can be indifferent about it and still have no opinion. But if someone bashes a film that you are even indifferent about, its on. Time to go all playground and bash that mother for pissing on your favourite movie.

But then some movies are just bad. Some are bad and we don’t care. So just try to remain somewhat civil, as this list might point out some crapfests from the last year, but it also has a degree of silliness to it like calling the Jonas Brothers the worst actors in a “film” that is a concert. Uh.. they were not acting. It was a concert.

Anyways check the list out….

WORST ACTOR OF THE DECADE
Ben Affleck (Daredevil, Gigli, Jersey Girl, Paycheck, Pearl Harbor, Surviving Christmas)
Eddie Murphy (Adventures of Pluto Nash, I Spy, Imagine That, Meet Dave, Norbit, Showtime)
Mike Myers (Cat in the Hat, Love Guru)

WORST ACTRESS OF THE DECADE

Jennifer Lopez (Angel Eyes, Enough, Gigli, Jersey Girl, Maid in Manhattan, Monster-in-Law, Wedding Planner)
Madonna (Die Another Day, The Next Best Thing, Swept Away)

So while I agree that this is not a bad list, and the Worst of the Decade noms are pretty accurate. (Battlefield Earth and Freddie Got Fingered are both terribly bad kind of terrible)

But I dont agree that Travolta, Murphy or Affleck should be considered Worst Actors of an entire decade. I am sure there are tons more deserving of the title. Especially when Eddie Murphy got an Oscar Nomination in ’07. He might have rolled out some steaming piles, but hardly in the talentless pool that should be “the worst” like Rob Schneider – or 50cent.

Also, just to support the theory that singers are not actors I would like to point out that of the 5 Actress noms, only one is an actor (who also happens to sing)

  1. Norbit was offensivley funny.

and What about Steve wasn’t THAT bad. BUT I love Sandra Bullock so I’m partial..

disturbing more than BAD. but not for this list…

Shit Ryan Renolds shoulda made it for his Deadpool Farce!

And Mark Wahlberg should of made this list for The Happening!

  2. Other than Affleck and Murphy that list is great. Affleck is a good actor no idea what is he doing on that list. As bad as Gigli was it doesn’t make him a bad actor with the body of work he has. Eddie Murphy is a GREAT actor…he is also an idiot for doing the kind of movies he does but he is really talented. I’d rather see him drop the lame family stuff and do more edgy movies but as long as he can deliver a performance like Dreamgirls this man has no place on any worst actors list.

    1. Eddie might have been good in Dreamgirls, and he had a decent career in the 80’s/90’s, but in this decade ‘Imagine That’, ‘Meet Dave’, ‘Norbit’, ‘Daddy Day Care’, ‘The Klumps’, and ‘Pluto Nash’ earn him a spot on the list.

  3. i love michaelbay, i will never fault him anything bad, except the island. i know when i go see a bay movie what to expect, and i am almost never disappointed. worst actor in decade, murphy, director:sommers, worst actor:murphy, film:g.i. joe(easily). man that movie sucked, and not in a good way.

  4. I didn’t know GI Joe was a remake or sequel. Perhaps they mean cartoon wise? In its stead, Halloween II. C’mon. You know you wanna. That or Final Dumbstination 4.

But let’s take what we see.
It’s no secret my distaste for the likes of GI Joe. However, I’m going by a different measuring stick. One film happens to be in the worst that had at least two actors that gave better performances in better films. Thus, as far as the worst film of 2009 goes on this list?

    It’s All About Steve.

Worst Script is Transformers 2. (although Steve was tempting)
Any actor actress connected to GI Joe or Obsessed on these list fills the actors categories.
    Worst Actor is Will Farrell.
Sandra Bullock & Bradley Cooper for bad couple (although Transformers was tempting)
Worst director: Phil Traill (All About Steve)
Remake/sequel: Transformers II Revenge Of The Fallen. (although Final Dumbstination, Friday The 13th and Halloween are not on the list)

    1. i’ve got to watch this movie all about steve now, just to see how bad it is lol. a girl told me it was funny, and seeing as how i used to date her and i know how horrible her taste in movies is, there’s no telling how terrible it is. when the trailer doesn’t even make me snicker that’s gotta be bad

  5. First look it wasn’t tooooo bad but after re-watching it was pretty cheesy.BUT….BUT….
as much as I am hard pressed to say it Marlon Wayans was the bomb in that flick yo!

His most famous line(not G.I. JOE)

“yOU bROUGHT yOUR bITCH…tO tHE wAFFLE hOUSE?”

    What movie?

  6. i liked GI Joe personally, am i the only one? it was: a bit over the top, action packed, had plot twists, had evil masterminds who want to take over the world, etc. this is what the cartoon was, so what did people expect? serious drama? come on

      1. well i try to steer clear of stating opinions as if they were facts, i guess that’s just one of us. and from all the knocking it got before it came out, i don’t think anyone was expecting a good movie really. i didn’t bother watching it until it came out on dvd. and then only after a couple people told me it was definitely worth a rental.

    1. Me too. The only TF2 nomination that I think is a little un-deserved is Julie White for Worst Supporting Actress. I think she did the best she could with the crap that was given to her. If she came off annoying, and she did, I blame it on the director & writers.

TF2 definitely deserves any other dishonor it can get.

  7. Eddie needs to do a raunchy stand-up show to get his legs back, and stop making kiddie flicks that even kiddies DONT want to see.

    Daddy day care aside.

nobody can argue that Madonna should win..
Mike Myers is justified as well.(Inglorious Basterds doesn’t count)

  8. I’m surprised Miss March didn’t get more nominations. That was the worst movie I’ve ever seen released to theaters, which was sad because I love TWKUK.
Also, I can;t disagree with you more Rodney, Eddie Murphy is a lock to win worst actor of the decade. He simply outpaced Rob Schnieder by putting out more crap. It was like clockwork, you knew every year there would be 1-2 horrible Eddie Murphy movie(s)coming out. Most were huge budgets as well.

  9. Ok it’s a pretty good list but WHAT THE FUCK is Ben Affleck doing there? That guy did some awesome acting this decade. This is why razzie pisses me off. Out of all the bad ones they will put one really good.

    1. He’s on there for stuff like Gigli, Daredevil and Surviving Christmas, but I agree that he’s had enough good stuff that he shouldn’t be on the list at all.

What about people like Marlon Wayans? Scary Movie 1,2,3 and 4, White Chicks, Little Man, Dance Flick?!? Come on… these are just as bad as Eddie Murphy’s and DEFINITELY worse than Afleck’s stuff.

  10. Interesting picks… It would be hard for me to really put an honest vote forward since I have only seen Transformers 2 of the recent picks.

I would have to say Eddie Murphy has to be the worst of the decade. The man has had one horrible, non-funny movie after another. At least Ben Afleck has had some decent action flicks and he started from Kevin Smith films so there’s some nostalgia factor there. Mike Myers and Rob Schneider are at least capable of creating laughs and are usually in films with a decent supporting cast… and well ya, Travolta is pretty bad as well- but not ‘Norbert’ bad.

    1. To me, Ben Affleck gets a pass because most of his acting work in the past few years (Hollywoodland, State Of Play) have been really good. I also thought he was alright in Sum Of Our Fears.
But Gigli was the worst film of the decade…, although “Battlefield” comes awful close.

To me the worst ‘actor’ of the decade is Rob Schneider.

  11. i think that even tho eddie murphy got a nom, he still put out way too much poop so he should stay. also when did a concert get to be considered as a movie? that part seems odd to me.

    1. Do you mean Jonas Bros. 3d? Well to me if it is released in theatres it’s a movie. Not to mention it probably had backstage stuff, etc.

If you can have good concert films (the Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense comes to mind) then you can have bad ones as well, no?

      1. Released in theaters does NOT make it a movie. And it did not contain actors.

If there was a category for Worst Concert films.. then yes. But its not a movie and contained no actors.

How can it be given Worst Actor in a Movie when it doesn’t qualify for the category? Easy. The people at the Razzies are jumping on popular trends to bash on the popular artists.

Not saying that Twilight is a great film but there are many examples of films/actors far worse than that, but this will get a bigger reaction and more attention from them.

      2. Yes, this time I’m on Rodney’s side. Ben Affleck is a worse actor than Shawn Wayans? Fuck Razzies. Also, John Travolta is pretty good. Twilight was a hell lotta better than Drag Me To Hell, that shit needed to be nominated in here.

      3. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying the Razzies are perfect, far from it- in fact I state below I think the list is flawed.

I concede that Jonas bros probably shouldn’t be in there… but I meant more if something is released in theatres it should stand up to the same criticisms that any other film would- however I didn’t mean to imply that because something is released to theatres that it contains the same creativity and effort as a real film.

  12. I’d say that Eddie Murphy & Paris Hilton are locks. God knows I would love for Twilight to sweep all the categories it was nominated in but damn if there aren’t some strong contenders in there.

    1. I couldn’t agree more! But I’m torn, between Twilight and Hannah Montana… Can’t decide which one is worse. I was cheering when I saw Rob & Kristen in the worst couple category. I was already beginning to think I was the only person in the world who thought they had zero chemistry.
