The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is by far the “not yet released” film I am most looking forward to this year (It comes out December 9th in North America). The book totally captivated me when I was 19 and I nearly fell out of my chair when I heard it was being adapted into a film.
I personally find that in some ways, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is superior to The Lord of the Rings (although I still think Rings just edges it out for top spot), and more magical than any Harry Potter story (that’s not a knock against Potter). Now, the good folks over at FilmForce have up up an interesting interview and article about the upcoming C.S. Lewis masterpiece and a look at one of the major running themes in the film:
Adamson explains the movie’s theme thusly: “This movie is about forgiveness. It’s about the kids’ forgiveness of each other, it’s about Aslan’s forgiveness of Edmund. That’s an important theme for the current times. So much of the world’s situations exist because of a lack of forgiveness. Feuds go on for thousands of years because nobody forgives and moves on. The themes are universal and still very relevant.”
Imagine that. A fantasy film with real depth. We’ve been lucky with The Lord of the Rings… let’s hope this trend continues for the whole fantasy genre.

I am just curious, does any one know it this has been made into a movie before? I live in the states, in Michigan, and the other day, while walking through a pawn shop I happened upon 3, 2 part box sets (that’s three seperate double sets of tapes, not three identical copies, but all different titles, different parts of the series) of The chronicles of Narnia. The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I know I didn’t imagine this, it was right next to Stephen Kings Langoliers, and the Star Wars trilogy.
The movie is looking fantastic so far. C.S. Lewis was a genius and it’s great that we have lived long enough to see his work put to screen with integrity (as far as one can tell). Can’t wait!
