Brad Anderson to remake Romero’s Crazies

BradAnderson-Machinist.jpgI have yet to see The Machinist, but everyone who has says it’s a great movie. The Writer and Director combo behind that movie are assigned to a new project, and one that’s an exciting remake, according to Variety through Rope of Silicon.

George Romero‘s Crazies is to get the new treatment with Romero Executive Producing. I think if a remake has a chance to work the original Director and\or team have to be at least involved in the decision making, so this news combined with that of the new creative team boasts well for the film.

…writer Scott Kosar and director Brad Anderson are set to tackle a remake of the George Romero horror-thriller The Crazies for Paramount Pictures…
…Variety reports that the film will update the storyline of the original, in which inhabitants of a small Pennsylvania town are beset by death and insanity after a plane crash lets loose a secret biological weapon into the water supply.

A bit of a mindless plot really, but with the talents from The Machinist, surely they can inject some new life into it, if Romero is willing.
