William Shatner calls J.J. Abrams a pig for hogging both Star Trek and Star Wars

It’s not a secret that William Shatner would love to get his greasy hands back into the Star Trek business, and with J.J. Abrams holding the keys to the franchise there’s only one door to knock on in that regard.  It’s also no secret that William Shatner is not in the 2009 Star Trek film nor is he in Abrams’ upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness, so when news his the web that Abrams would also direct Star Wars Episode 7 Shatner took it upon himself to opine in the only way that seemed sensible. He called him a pig.

“He’s being a pig,” the original Captain Kirk told Movie Fanatic. “He’s collecting the two franchises and holding them close to his vest. He’s probably the most talented director of that ilk that we have, but he’s gone too far this time.”

Shatner is the man for having the cajones to say this out loud and in public. Was he serious? Probably not. Dude seems like he’s got a decent sense of humor and went on to inject his interest in appearing in the Star Wars film.

Shatner added, “I think of him as a buddy of mine. I’ve taken him out for sushi. I think it’s time for J.J. and I to have another sushi and let me put him straight about two of the largest franchises—and not employing me in either one of them is just foolhardy.”

What better way than to try to ramp up internet support for work.  I love Shatner and I hope he continues to razz Abrams all the way through release of episode 7. I’ll keep you guy updated if I find any more gems like this…
