Blu Tuesday – DVD and Bluray Release Report July 27th

A little light on the wow factor this week, but with Starcraft 2 coming out today as well (already got mine) I suspect that this is a good thing for me.

Let’s check out this weeks bigger releases:

RepoMenCheck out our Review

Jude Law plays Remy, one of the best organ repo men in the business. But when he suffers a cardiac failure on the job, he awakens to find himself fitted with the company’s top-of-the-line heart-replacement…as well as a hefty debt. But a side effect of the procedure is that his heart’s no longer in the job. When he can’t make the payments, The Union sends its toughest enforcer, Remy’s former partner Jake (Academy Award® winner Forest Whitaker), to track him down.

Fun movie, lots of action but the message is lost in the thrill ride. Worth a rental for the action which is really good, but I wont be buying it.

Batman: Under the Red HoodCheck out our Review

Batman faces his ultimate challenge as the mysterious Red Hood takes Gotham City by firestorm. One part vigilante, one part criminal kingpin, Red Hood begins cleaning up Gotham with the efficiency of Batman, but without following the same ethical code. Killing is an option. And when the Joker falls in the balance between the two, hard truths are revealed and old wounds are reopened.

An amazingly deep film for what is typically light action animated fare. Seriously good stuff.

Dont wait til someone has returned it to the DVD rental shelf, Go buy it.

Clash of the TitansCheck out our Review

Perseus (Sam Worthington) raised as a fisherman, but is actually a demi-god – the son of Zeus (Liam Neeson) and is about to take on the gods after the death of his family. It is revealed that it is Perseus’ destiny to rescue the city of Argos from the ruthless rage of Hades and his Kraken monster. With nothing to lose, Perseus leads a band of soldiers on a quest to defeat the Kraken.

Though strongly inspired by Greek Myth, this is NOT word for word adaptation of the lore. While I liked it more than most people seemed to, I did find myself wishing they hadn’t reshot the film and changed the plot. Seems the film would have worked better the original way. Still fun for the action, and the angelic beauty that is Gemma Arterton. And the lack of the powerchord rock in the actual film that was used in the trailer.

Still buying it.

So what are you picking up this week?
