Hopkins in talks for Arabian Nights

Sir Anthony Hopkins was just born to play the badguy. Of course he isn’t ALWAYS the badguy, but he has a presence that makes it so easy to think he is evil that I just love seeing him as the villain.

Well Hopkins is in negotiations to put on the black hat once more as an evil sorcerer in Arabian Nights.

Coming Soon says:

To be directed by Chuck Russell, the action adventure “centers on a young commander (Liam Hemsworth) who, after his king is murdered in a coup, joins forces with Sinbad, Ali Baba and the Genie from the magic lamp to rescue the queen, Scheherazade.

“Hopkins will play Pharotu, an evil sorcerer who killed Sinbad’s love, a mermaid, and is looking to amass more magic for himself.”

I wonder if the Genie will be voiced by Robin Williams? You never had a friend like him.

But in all seriousness, it looks like the Arabian tales will be getting a more serious tone for a live action adpatation and with Hopkins as an evil Sorcerer?

I am in.

  1. I always liked those few Arabian names.. Ali Baba, pharotu (kinda sound Egyptian). And if this has Robin Williams it will be awesome, big fan of this guy.
