Blood Oath puts a Vampire in the Oval Office

Remember the good old days when author’s books would get picked up for movie adaptations because the book was popular. Well not wanting to wait for public opinion Blood Oath (a book about political espionage and vampires) is being adapted to the big screen.

Fused Film says:

Blood Oath centers on a vampire captured by the U.S. Army just after the Civil War who is forced to swear an oath to President Andrew Johnson and has protected the presidency in the Secret Service for nearly 150 years. In the story, the vampire, named Nathaniel Cade, is paired with a new human handler and finds himself embroiled in a plot involving a monstrous new form of biological weapon with a connection to the White House.

And just in case you are wondering about this novel that is so good its getting an adaptation… its out on Tuesday.

And Foster has picked up the rights to the followup book as well.

I will have to see what this looks like before I make assumptions.

Could be epic.
Could be not.

  1. This sounds kinda like the Hellsing anime/manga series. In the Hellsing manga/anime Dr. Van Helsing captures a vampire and forces him to become the servant of the head of the Hellsing family (which of course changes over time as they die) and to work for an anti-vampire organization called Hellsing.

It might be worth checking out.

  2. Lame. The only reason it is being picked up is because it has a vampire in it. Speaking of which, I should start writing my novel about a vampire who gets involved in the Communist revolution in Russia, becomes disenchanted under Stalin, and who eventually becomes a spy for the British ala James Bond during the Cold War.

    1. That may very well be contributing. But who knows? Maybe someone read it and thought it would make a good movie.

I have seen a lot of supernatural novels being published with vampires etc that are not being made into movies.

      Time will tell
