George Lucas to Direct Red Tails Reshoots

Reshoots are often something I try to look forward to seeing the silver lining of. But this one just leaves me itchy.

It seems the recent rumours of George Lucas directing the reshoots for Red Tails himself are true. He couldnt arrange for director Anthony Hemingway to return, so he stepped up to the task.

The Film Stage shares:

George Lucas was reported to be shooting reshoots for the new movie he is producing called Red Tails, which is being directed by Anthony Hemingway. His earlier credits include HBO’s The Wire. The initial reason behind this was because Lucas and producer Rick McCallum were not satisfied with the footage presented.

Now while they continue to raise an unfounded eyebrow making assumptions that Lucas didn’t even call Hemingway and wanted to get into the director’s chair for the reshoots himself.

The only thing that bothered me was that these reshoots are happening because Lucas was “not satisfied with the footage”. Because he is so well known as a discerning director? NoooooooooO! (spoken like Revenge of the Sith Annakin/Vader for irony)

Lucas is a brilliant mind, and a visionary. But he needs to let others direct his works for him.

In related news he was seen on the set of Red Tails quoted as saying “What? Like its hard?”

  1. Wasn’t he like, in the front row at the Golden Globes looking up a James Cameron in AWE?

If it wasn’t AWE, then it was “Awe Shucks”

Shucks he’ll never win the big one.

    He’s done. but who cares?

Indiana Jones 4 was a prime example of him slipping away

  2. Let others direct? Yes, add “write” to that list as well.
Anakin turning to the dark side because of a 30 second dream?
    Haha…good one George.

    1. Annakin turned for a NUMBER of reasons, frustration, fear, hate, insecurity and most of all the manipulation of the Emperor. It wasn’t a 30second dream that made him turn. He was already an angry mess of uncontrolled emotions that just got worse.

Now writing in that Padme died of a “broken heart” instead of just saying she sustained injuries that premature delivery of her twins. That was wrong.

The droid was confused. There is nothing medically wrong with her, she just didn’t want to live anymore. Too bad about the pretty babies huh?

      1. Annakin’s whole fear was that something would happen to Padme, he turned partially because the emperor made him believe that he’d have the power to save her. So he turns, then kills her…more or less negating the entire plot.

I get what you’re saying Rodney, and you’re right, but that’s more what we were told in the previous movies, the “lore” if you will, more than what Lucas actually showed us and fleshed out in this last 3 movies.

I won’t even start on Obi Wan not remembering R2, or Annikan building 3PO.

      2. If you watch the prequels, pay careful attention to just how much exposure ObiWan has with R2D2. Barely any. Far less with 3PO

And he is an astromech droid. That would be like me assuming every black 1997 Cavalier was the same one I bought off the lot.

I am not at all disturbed by Obi wan forgetting about those two generic droids. Even he would have to think it would be impossible that 30 years later these inconsequential droids could be exactly the same ones.

Besides, I am pretty sure Obiwan was a clone but that’s just me.
