Amanda Seyfried joins Albert Nobbs

Amanda Seyfried will be lending her beautiful looks and charm to a Glenn Close produced period film set in 19th century Ireland called Albert Nobbs. I hope she can do a convincing Irish accent!

Seyfried is becoming the new it girl, and Variety reports that she’s just joined the cast of Albert Nobbs, based on a script by, of all people, Glenn Close. More on that in a second. Seyfried comes aboard the project with Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Orlando Bloom, Michael Gambon, and Janet McTeer for director Rodrigo Garcia.

Close is also producing the film, which helps explain the writing gig, but she also starred in a stage adaptation of this story and will appear on screen, too, “as a woman who must pass as a man to survive life in 19th century Ireland.”

Glenn Close in drag? No, that’s not what got my attention for this project. Amanda Seyfried did.

That girl is just hitting it so big right now seeming to be scooping up roles everywhere. I like that she is emerging as far more than her ditzy teen roles and didnt just fall into romcom hell.

Seyfried can next be seen in Chloe as a seductress.

  1. Amanda Seyfried is a supertalented young actress! She can handle any kinds of role in movies: a mean girl, a happy girl in Mama Mia!, a geek in Jennifer’s Body, an idealistic girl in Dear John, a cheerful lady in Letter to Juliet, and a seductress in Chloe! GREAT!

  2. I think Amanda is a beautiful young lady, and her acting is pretty damn good. I think she’s got good things ahead of her. I was put off a little though, by her attitude during the question period for the flick with Megan Fox. Amanda seemed really wanting to show off how much smarter she is than Ms. Fox. I’m of the mindset, “let your work speak for itself. There’s no need to put someone else down just because they’re more popular (at least for the moment, anyways)”. Just my 2 pence worth. :D
