While it was already speculated and rumoured that Sir Anthony Hopkins would take on the role as the Mighty King of Asgard and father of Thor, it is now confirmed.

Lots of rumors that Anthony Hopkins was getting ready to star in the upcoming THOR movie and now there is no need for speculation. Variety has just confirmed that indeed Anthony Hopkins will play the Father of Thor and the King of Asgard… ODIN.
I like the casting. I really liked Hopkins in The Mask of Zorro, as he illustrated just how he could be passionate, soft father figure and agressive all in one character. All things I suspect Odin will be.
I was kind of rooting for Brian Blessed myself, but this is suitable.

Hopkins is Ideal and will be awesome..lets hope he shows up in this movie and doesn’t just try to get paid and walk thru this one..(a couple of films come to mind)
