The Griswolds are Back for a Superbowl Commercial

Looks like Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo will be once again reprising their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold from the Vacation films, but not in the way I was hoping.

News of a new Vacation film following a grown up Rusty Griswold and his family brought hopes that we might see a cameo from his parents, but this time Clark and Ellen will star in a line of commercials for a Vacation Rentals company that will start with a featured Superbowl Sunday ad.

/Film says:

The Griswolds will be reuniting insead for an advertising campaign to be launched during the 2010 Superbowl. The television spot is for HomeAway vacation rentals (a natural fit) and according to US Weekly, will also feature an exact replica of the film’s iconic Wagon Queen Family Truckster.

I love the Vacation films, and while it will be great to see the Griswolds again, I am more interested in seeing the new generation bring the comedy stylings of Vacation back to the big screen with Rusty’s family.

But it will still be good to see Clark and Ellen again, if only briefly.

  1. Vegas vacation does not count. I don’t even consider it part of the same movies. Vaction, European and Xmas are classics. Vegas is unwatchable. When I meet somebody who has seen it or enjoyed it I know we’ll never be friends. Ha. Kidding but not really.

  2. “When Santa fits his fat white ass down the chimney tonight, he’s gonna meet the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse.”LOL

That movie would be good to do during the Forgotten Fridays around Christmas time.

  3. Weird how The Griswolds always changed child actors for every movie they did.
of course, Anthony Micheal Hall and his pot-smokin’ sis are my favs. but Vegas Vacation has a good pair as well. they were pretty much absent from christmas version But w/ all those in-laws, grandparents it was still good.

There’s probally a good story/reason for this that should be somewhat interesting.
