Edge of Darkness Trailer Online

Looks like Mel Gibson got bit with the acting bug again since being absent in a leading role since Signs. And his first effort back will be Taken 2. No wait, its Edge of Darkness.

ScreenJunkies calls it:

Mel Gibson stars as a Boston detective searching for answers in the murder of his daughter. Was she killed in an attempt on his life or does the reason behind her assassination go much deeper? Mel intends to find out by smashing every window, door, and face in Suffolk County.

Sounds a little bit too much like Taken, but I loved that movie so I would give this a shot. And this seems to have a little Consipiracy Theory in it too.

Besides everyone loves a crazy Mel.

  1. I loved the irony of him giving a “cross” and “nails” saying at the end.
There is a little similarity to Taken, but the father rescue/revenging a family member is a Hollywood cliche’. I have missed Mel’s acting and looking forward to this film. Martin Campbell directing is a great bonus.

  2. I second that thought David, I would never mess with Porter (gibson from payback) i would take a shot at william wallace over porter lol

Meanwhile this type of movie has been done before but cant see that being a problem, sounds like Get Carter mixed with a bit of Taken.

  3. Looks like an awesome movie to me.

So happy to see Mel acting again and starting off with a dark crime drama at that. And yes, crazy Mel rules.

Looking forward to this one for sure.

  4. this is a remake of a british mini series from the 80’s and it is NOTHING like taken.

Plus a father out for revenge was hardly an invention of Taken but unless they have changed the story drastically this really is nothing like Taken at all.

The mini series is great…but yeah it came out in the 80’s so if they were similar it would taken taking from this but.

but they really are very different stories

  5. Yea Beast is right not original at all. But who cares this film likes it could be entertaining and in my opinion better than Taken better cast better director.

I like how it said from the director of Casino Royale Mark Cambell is grate and you can see its his work clearly in the hand to hand combat scene they showed in the trailer.

He should be the New Bond director.

  6. A difference in feel between this and take is that Neeson had to survive and move quickly to save his daughter, while Gibson in this has nothing to lose. Not a huge difference, but will help differentiate them.

That being said, I absolutely loved Taken, and am excited for this one, too.

  7. If I had to choose at having Gibson or Neeson coming after me because I kidnapped or killed one of their daughters, I think I would pick Gibson. He is much less intimidating than Neeson, despite being a little off his rocker and playing Riggs. In other words, I find Neeson to be more threatening. Though, I must say, it would be a close call pitting Rob Roy and William Wallace in an intimidating competition.

      1. Ya know, totally forgot about that character. I would have to say he was still not intimidating, though. I just lose a lot of intimidation when an intimidating character is presented in a comical way. Though the way he takes the smashing of the toes (or was it fingers) was quite impressive. Also liked how he just wanted the money he was owed, nothing more and nothing less.
