Dear John Trailer Online

I haven’t found Channing Tatum to be all that appealing of an actor, but he has that chiselled looks that are the opposite of me, so he must be dreamy. But his new movie Dear John also stars Amanda Seyfried who I just adore, so it might be worth the watch.

Check out the trailer to see why her “Dear John” letters are about.

First Showing says:

This stars Channing Tatum, Amanda Seyfried, and Richard Jenkins, and is about two young lovers split apart by the Iraq war who keep in touch via letters. It’s an adaption of a Nicholas Sparks novel, which means lots of women are going to love it.

This will likely be a renter for me, and I am sure my wife will love it.

I saw an explosion in there somewhere. I think.

    1. I am 36 and I still don’t see how that would have anything to do with my ability or desire to watch this movie. And while you have a right to an opinion, you might also want it to make a shred of sense.

They can’t make a story about a girl in love with a soldier, corresponding through mail? Because you – for no reason at all – have a boyfriend in the military?

That isn’t an opinion, its blind ignorance. Its random and without basis.

  1. Having a boyfriend in the army I think that this movie is innapriate and should not be out. These men and women fight for our country why should theybhave to get these letters. The person at home is supposed to be there and support their spouse

  2. I don’t know. I’m personally a fan of all the nicholas sparks movies that have come out. and I do agree that channing has his moments where he is a kinda bad actor, but this looks like a real good movie to me =)

  3. Channing Tatum’s bad acting cancels out his good looks. I like Amanda Seyfried and Richard Jenkins, so they are pluses for this flick, but I doubt I’ll see it…maybe on DVD…Channing is a big black mark for me, he’s simply painful.

I do like romantic dramas, but ones that often end tragically. LoL Atonement was super overrated and painstakingly long, but the acting was excellent. I think the last romantic drama I really enjoyed was A Very Long Engagement.

    1. Huh. I’ve seen a lot of movies that really grinded. Gladiator, as great a movie as it was, was probably one of them. But Atonement? How could it? The scenes are, for the most part, short and to the point, and the plot stays fresh the whole way through, not to mention a very well-constructed ending. Atonement didn’t drag, and it was a very powerful story. Overrated? That depends on what you’re looking for in a story. As for me, I found it.

    1. “The Notebook + Atonement”

I don’t know, man. The whole point of Atonement was that it was about…atonement. That’s what set it apart. Two people being separated due to an awful mistake. The whole point of Dear John was that he was making a choice to be away from the one he loves.

      1. “Exactly dude, its like they “Notebooked” Atonement, made it a lowest common denominator tearjerker starring good looking young people.”

First of all, you shouldn’t necessarily say, “they”, because this film is based on a novel. In fact, The Notebook and Dear John are both written by the same person!

And like I said before, I just don’t see the correlations with Atonement.
