Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeakquel Trailer Online

Mostly because my kid watched this trailer and the look in their eyes was like seeing Santa is real, I am looking forward to this film. Yeah, shoot me. I have a soft spot for things that make my kids shine, so I am biased a bit but this looks pretty cute to me.

One thing I found curious was the presence of Jason Lee, who I thought was being replaced by Zachary Levi as Dave’s Cousin who is watching over the Chipmunks.

I like that they focused on the Chipmunks and subtly dropped the Chippettes at the end. The Chipmunk’s reactions were perfect!

Shut up. That was pre-emptive to the ribbing I am sure you can’t wait to finish reading this post to type out. ;)

  1. This is what I don’t get–does anyone who makes kid movies care about the gender roles that children see and absorb? In this film, the human teenage girls acted like groupies toward the chipmunks as well as their human male peers; they also were obedient to them. Do parents want their girls thinking this is positive or valuable behavior? Worse–does anyone want their boys to expect girls to act like this?

As icing on this cake–the adult-like sexual dance moves displayed by the “Chipettes” (beyonce moves–not just several, but several songs full of them)are not appropriate for the age of child seeing this film. Again–does anyone think little girls should think this is cool behavior or that boys should expect little girls to move and act like that?

Want a cherry on this cake–Alvin was not even likable

I used to be such a fan.

    1. Studios don’t care about stuff like that, just look at the “humor” in the Transformers films. Those films are based off a toy line and are bound to attract kids, yet the film is inappropriate for them.

Studios only care about the money, and they know it will bring in money.

  2. I’m betting that Jason Lee goes to the hospital in the first 10 minutes, and when he is there Zachary Levi is taking care of the Chipmunks. Not sure why they would edit him out of the trailer though.

  3. Guys, really? The plot was pitiable. Worst first act EVER. How can a film come back from that? The answer is, it really can’t. I watched the whole film from beginning to end and found NOTHING redeeming about it. So what if the talking chipmunks sound kinda cute. That doesn’t make a movie.

      1. I’ve seen plenty of kids movies that are classics. Films by people like Disney, Pixar, and Miyazaki. Beautiful films, some of them.

But my point is that Chipmunks isn’t even as good as your typical cash-in kids movie these days.

Not saying the sequel will suck too, but there’s a good chance. Because BOY was the first one bad.

  4. Yeah I said it…I liked it too. I’ll see it eventually, like on Xmas, with my kids dragging me into it kicking and screaming…

    They love the first one…

  5. I’m gonna just go ahead and say it. I liked Alvin and the Chipmunks. This seems like more of the first film. Though many will say that it sucks, and that this will suck, I can’t help but be interested in seeing it. It may not be a day one, but I will see it.
