Wizarding World of Harry Potter Concept Art Online

Universal Studios is hard at work to build their Wizarding World of Harry Potter as an immersive experience of all things Harry Potter.

Online today we get a look at some of the concept art and video workup of a flyby of the park with some inspirational clips from the film.

/Film has the breakdown of some of the attractions

* Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey: Located in Hogwarts Castle, this “thrilling new state-of-the-art attraction” uses “entirely new technology to bring the magic, characters and stories of Harry Potter to life in ways never before experienced.”

* Flight of the Hippogriff: A family coaster which will include interaction with Hagrid as you fly on a Hippogriff for training.

* Dragon Challenge: Formerly the Dueling Dragons coaster, rethemed to center on flying either a Hungarian Horntail or Chinese Fireball, featuring “many iconic elements from the Triwizard Tournament.”

Other attractions include Ollivander’s Shop, Owl Post, Dervish and Banges, Three Broomsticks, Honeydukes, Zonko’s and Filch Emporium.

I am such a geek. I can’t wait to go see this. I might even bring my kids.

  1. Color me disappointed. I’ve been a huuge Harry Potter fan for years… and was actually looking forward to this attraction… and I’ve already been on one of its roller coasters? “Rethemed” ~10 year old roller coaster = lame.

I hope this is just the beginning of the attraction, because there’s so much they could have done and didn’t. I can’t see how they could have skipped making the flying car ride in the second book into some kind of coaster… that was an obvious one.

  2. I got back from Florida a few weeks ago and construction is well underway on this. It’s looking great and the general level of excitement for this is exceptionally high.

Whoever was ranting earlier as well, if you bothered to read anything said beneath the photos… it’s up at the top corner of the park and the only thing being replaced is Duelling Dragons. If Spiderman was based on the third movie, it’d need Harry Potter to clean up the stench surrounding it.

(Spiderman is my favourite ride in Florida! followed by Sheikra in Busch Gardens)

  3. I was at Universal exactly one year ago and construction for this was already underway. This is going to be huge!

I dont think they were tearing anything down, including the marvel area. But maybe they did since then.

  4. I was reading about this last night on Yahoo! It certainly looks interesting. If I ever get the chance I’d definitely go.

Apparentally they’re going to serve “actual” butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks…and I’ve always wondered what that tasted like…

Also, just wanted to say “nice! *eye roll*” at your comment about MAYBE taking your kids. Nerd.

    1. Haha, I’ve finally gotten around to reading the books and butterbeer definitely popped up all over the place in the books. It had me curious the other day and looked it up online and there are quite a few recipes for it. To bad I’m to lazy to try to recreate any of them, and now I might not have too. Will probably be an expensive trip just to taste it, though. :D

  5. Im so excited. This is going to be amazing. :D
Im huge HP fan so spring 2010 cant get here fast enough.

Cant wait to be sitting in the Three Broomsticks drinking real butterbeer. :D

    1. No, they better fucking not!

You cant replace the Spiderman ride for goddamn “Dragon Challenge”

Like- does Disney own that part of the park now?

I hope this park will be set up miles away from the Hulk roller coaster

I dont want these bullshit rides anywhere near my MARVEL theme park. I dont want to associate myself with anything Harry Potter related (im the biggest fan of the books btw, but the movies are nothing short of pure pussyness)

      1. I don’t think so because Dueling Dragons was on the total opposite side of the park.
I read somewhere that Universal is allowed to keep all the rides they already have because they had already bought the rights to those. I don’t, however, believe they will be able to make any additions to it– at least not without paying an assload to their biggest competitors (florida theme park wise). Spiderman and the Hulk are the like BEST rides there so I’d have been be uber pissed if they had had to get rid of those.

This Harry Potter stuff looks AMAZING. Ah, I love living in Florida sometimes :)

  6. Now if I can get me a World of Hogwarts MMO that allows me to continue living the Harry Potter world (minus Potter since his story is completed) from my home in a fun and entertaining game, my Harry Potter fixations will be complete!

    1. It sounds interesting, but I question whether a HP park has staying power. HP is extremely popular now, with the books just recently released and the movies still in production, but will this park still be popular (financially viable) 10 years from now?

  7. Even as a marginal Potter fan this frankly sounds pretty awesome. Will have to swing by there when I eventually tour the states which I’m certain will be well after this is finished.
