Gatchaman Teaser Trailer Online

Gatchaman is the name for what I was raised to know as G-Force. No, not that silly superhero ginea pig movie. G-Force was just what we ended up calling Battle of the Planets.

Well now Imagi, the animation studio behind the animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the upcoming Astroboy is taking on Battle of the Planets and labeling it with the original Japanese title Gatchaman. An intrepid fan bootlegged the longer teaser trailer at Anime Expo in August:

This franchise holds a part of my youth in a stranglehold and I have been hoping for an animated feature since the rejuvinated Gatachaman dtv series in 2000. I can’t wait to see this. It looks SO HOT!

  1. Fan of the old series myself. The trailer looks cool, although it’s just a teaser, not really any sound, and it was lagging bad.

I wanna see more before I decide to go see it.

  2. Big fan right here but I’m still not sure how they are handling the translation of the names and so on. The film is called Gatchaman but is best known in the US as Battle of the Planets so are they using the BOTP character names? Are the baddies going to be a terrorist organisation or aliens from planet Spectra?

And is it going to be as violent as the original Japanese version with the pointy weapons that stab people and the kung fu or will they just knock people out?

    1. From what little I’ve heard this is a full-on Gatchaman film, with no American influence (ie. Battle of the Planets/G-Force, ect). That would mean Berg Katse (no Zoltar) leads an alien invasion and Science Ninja Team Gatchaman is the only thing that can stand in the way!
