Kill Bill Combines Into DVD Film Spectacular Kill Bill: The Whole Bloddy Mess

kb3uma.jpegThe wait is over Kill Bill fans. The DVD we were hoping for will soon be upon us. Kill Bill: The Whole Bloddy Mess contain both movies, extra footage, special features and who knows what else! We get the news of this release and following commentary from our friends at cinematical:

They don’t even have a picture up of the cover yet, but nevertheless, there are a number of things worth noting. First, it will come out in less than five months — on November 6th, so we know how long we have to wait. Secondly, it should be a hell of a lot better than the previous DVD offerings, and this isn’t just the words of hope. There is no list of features or specs yet, but the set includes four discs — which I assume means two per movie. I think it’s safe to say that we should get ready for a crap ton of features. As for the last two tidbits — it’s run-time is listed at 247 minutes (4+ hours long) and that’s probably why its rating is NC17.

This is good for Douglas, I have been waiting to buy Kill Bill, because I have been waiting for this version of the DVD release. I think Kill Bill is my favorite Tarantino film, and the Hanzo sword smithing scene may be one of my favorite movie moments of all time. It will be cool to see both films back to back as one, I am wondering If i will like it as much as one movie as I did when they were separate. I think Kill Bill 2 was one of my most anticipated films ever because I wanted to see resolution for the bride.

I am not so big on special features, but they are nice to have if you really enjoy a film. The special features and deleted scenes from Comedian are great, and the commentary by Seinfeld and Coiln Quinn is just fantastic. I have to really like a movie to dig through the special features and Kill Bill will be one of them, I am hoping they have a documentary on the making of a Hanzo sword (fingers crossed).

  1. I agree with Nick on this that Kill Bill is overrated. I found the Kill Bill Vol. 1 to be mediocre and one of the problems I had was that I wasn’t vested in the Beatrix character I had more intrest in Lucy Lui’s character. I mean they did give a better backround story to her than they did to Beatrix and I just found the whole film really flat with nothing special. I liked the KIll BIll vol. 2 more but I don’t think its great either to me it just seems like since its made by Tarantino it has to be great.

Another think I think that Kill Bill Vol.2 is both overrated and underrated at the same time. I find it underrated because a lot of people tend to consider the first Kill Bill better and usually they site the fact that it had more action. I find it overrated because they all say it’s great which I didn’t see anything great about it.

I just never saw the facination with the Kill Bill movies. Perhapes it just that it has so much stuff from other movies that I have seen and heard that it just failed to impress me.

  2. @ Nick.

I think overall Kill Bill is the least balanced of QT’s stuff, but I still thnk it’s a very solid flic. By least balanced, I mean that I think it has the most hit-and-miss scenes of all QT’s work (like in Kill Bill 2, I don’t think alot of the Pre-wedding stuff in the church, pre-BIll’s appearance, worked well at all); but the forging of the sword, the anime, and the fight in the trailer and alot of other stuff are so good I overlook the movie’s faults.

  3. YES!! And to think I almost broke down and bought Kill Bill 2 on dvd because I didn’t think this version would ever happen. I’m SO excited. I absolutely loved Kill Bill 1 & 2 though I prefer the first Vol. a little more I think it’s going to be awesome to watch as one whole movie.

  4. So… is there anyone else who thinks Kill Bill is incredibly overrated? While I like most of Tarantino’s work, I thought the first Kill Bill was mediocre and the second one was OK but definitely not Tarantino at his best.

  5. I’m hopnig they fit the two movies into one, unbroken 3 hour epic by trimming the excess from the two thatrical cuts and adding only what’s essential. I think with the amount of time QT had to get this thing done and out, he should at least give us his original intended epic on one disc, uninterrupted. We’ll see. Still really good news to know it’s finally coming.

  6. While I’m sure the extras and bonus scenes are going to be great and I’m looking forward to this, I don’t really see how watching “Kill Bill: The Single film” split onto multiple discs due to length is really much different/better than “Kill Bill: Two ‘seperate’ movies” split onto multiple discs as ‘seperate’ movies.
