Christina Applegate Joins The Rocker

Awesome news out today concerning “The Rocker,” it appears Christina Applegate has joined the team. We get the scoop from movieweb:

Rainn Wilson’s starring vehicle The Rocker gets a love interest. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Christina Applegate will be playing opposite Wilson in this music-based comedy.

The film revolves around a washed up musician who gets a second chance at fame when he’s asked to join his teenage nephew’s band. Peter Cattaneo is directing the film for Fox Atomic.

Applegate will be playing the mother of the lead guitarist in Rainn’s underage rock band.

This movie sounds better and better every week. Having Christina Applegate as a M.I.L.F. of one of the kids in the band is classic. Having Rainn Wilson move in on his guitarist’s mom is knee slapping hilarious. I hope the kid has a meltdown and calls his mom Yoko.

I have nothing but positive things to sat about Christina Applegate. She is an amazing comedic actress and I am always excited to see her attached to a project. Forged in the flames of Married With Children, she put her talents on display perfectly in Anchorman alongside Will Ferrell. Applegate’s ability to play off of other actors and be the “straight man” is gold. I am a huge fan of Anchorman and often argue that she needs to be given more credit for her work in the film.

All in all, this is shaping up on paper to be a comic delight. It starts filming in Toronto this month, I hope we will be able to get some interviews and updates for our international friends.
