Documentary deities have birthed glorious news; Mike Tyson will soon have his own documentary. We get the saucy news from the movieweb:
Are you ready to be punched through the screen? Well, Director James Toback is going to try and do just that. The indie auteur is jumping back in the ring with former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. Together, they will make a feature documentary that follows the path Tyson took in losing both his championship ring, and his place amongst the legends of boxing.
Toback has more than thirty hours of recently completed interviews with the ex-champ at his disposal. According to Variety, James complimented his subject on being very forthcoming about everything that has happened to him.
Mike Tyson is a boxing legend. This is a guy that would rip heads off of people in mere seconds. He tattooed his face. He is a destructive, explosive relentless force and I can watch his early boxing footage all day long. This is a guy that needs his story to be told.
Say what you will about this man now, he is a warrior and a delightfully interesting character. I loved his cameo appearance in Rocky 6 and always am excited when I see him on TV. The best Arsenio Hall episode ever was when Mike Tyson and Mohammad Ali explained why the other would win in a fight between the two.

I’m always up for a good documentary and I think Tyson makes a great subject. If done right, this could be pretty good.
