The S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show has begun filming…

This isn’t really movie news but it sort of…is?  The upcoming Joss Whedon TV series for Marvel, S.H.I.E.L.D., has begun filming.  That’s all there is to it really, but somehow the revelation and acknowledgement of this fact tickles my nerd-endings.  To commemorate the occasion a photo of Whedon on set has been tweeted:

The whole point of the show is that even with all these big things, the little things matter. It’s about people who don’t have super powers. There will be some people with powers, there will be FX, and there will be the spectacle of science-fiction storytelling — but all played on a very human, small level. That’s the appeal of the thing.

I could not be more excited.  The TV show features the return of Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson and takes place within the Marvel cinematic universe as an accompanying piece to the larger picture.  Kinda.  Who knows…

  1. Super excited for this one.
Although, here’s an interesting observation from my end on the series. The Wikipedia entry for the show states: “Filming on the pilot started on January 22, 2013. It was confirmed that the series would take place after the events in The Avengers”
So if the series is based on events AFTER the Avengers movie, then that means Agent Coulson actually survived that fatal blow by Loki? Does that also mean we might be seeing him returning in the Avengers sequel?
    Questions Questions! :D
