Trailer and Poster: Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds in Safe House

A new poster appeared for the upcoming movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington for their flick ‘Safe House’ for us to dissect, critique, and theorize upon. Upon first glance of this poster I immediately began thinking about Jason Bourne and Jake Shuttlesworth (He Got Game).

It’s an interesting poster and all but it honestly does nothing for me. The motto “No One Is Safe” is so trite at this point that I’m desensitized and would easily dismiss this bland looking poster in my theater. Sure, a Denzel Washington movie is usually worth a look but once someone realizes that it’s Ryan Reynolds rather than Matt Damon it could be a turn off.

As I sometimes do, I outright ignored this movie for a bit. I’ve been having a hard time with Ryan Reynolds as of late and felt like I just needed a break from the guy. I like the guy and all but he’s really been putting out some stinkers lately with ‘Green Lantern’ and ‘The Change-Up’ that I felt that I just wanted to play ‘wait and see’ with this one. I finally watched the trailer for this flick and it seems interesting and all but doesn’t seem exceptional. I do feel that this might be a fun action flick and the music playing in the trailer helps a lot but I’m having a hard time maintaining interest. I’ll keep an eye out for it and let you guys know if anything interesting comes along with this flick.

  1. it’s too bad it does nothing FOR YOU. I pray that Ryan will get a fair critic of the movies he has comming out based on performance and not on how everybody seems to FEEL about him. Most of the comments are based on feelings I did not think men were so emotional. You guys are comming off like “CATTY WOMEN”

    1. I’m actually looking forward to reviewing Ryan’s performance in this film.

A spade’s a spade, and Green Lantern and the Change up may have had a decent performance from Reynolds but the films themselves couldn’t hold up. I can’t give a movie a pass just cus I like the actor.

      1. Yea but in green lantern and the change up it is much more Ryan reynolds trying to carry the movie. This is a Denzel washington movie which means Reynolds will not have to carry it and might be exactly what he needs.

        1. You have a point! With Denzel in the lead he can coast with this flick like Chris Pine did with ‘Unstoppable’. I’m cautiously optimistic with this film and to his credit Ryan is by no means a bad actor, he just has some ‘making up’ to do.
