The Madden Curse to be a Feature Film?

A strange superstition straddles the world of console gaming and professional sports in the form of The Madden Curse. The curse, if you believe in those things suggests that appearing on the cover of the popular EA Sports Madden Football game will jinx the athlete and result in their injury, or other bad circumstances.

That being said, the Curse is going to be the basis of a sports comedy film, but not quite the way you might think.

The Film Stage shares the synopsis:

The story will follow a former Madden video game champion who is forced out of retirement just as he finds himself on the corner of the game’s cover – and subject to the curse.

So instead of an athlete, a video game player who is a former winner of the Madden Bowl (a real tournament held every year with that year’s version of the game) is featured on the cover of a Madden game and is subject to the curse because of it.

It does sound interesting and adds a little more tongue in cheek to the creepy circumstances revolving around this Curse.

  1. when i saw the title of the post, my first thought was “why does this need to be made”, but after reading the rest i think it might be interesting if they dont ruin it by having someone like shia lebouf or justin beiber as the main character…
