There have been talks that Salt would be seeing a sequel, but word has it the director of the first film – Phil Noyce wants nothing to do with it.
“Those three [alternate] Blu-ray cuts [of the film] represent just about everything I have to offer on Evelyn Salt. If there ever is a sequel, better its directed by someone with a completely fresh take on what I believe could be a totally entertaining and complex series of stories” says Noyce.
Salt was an OK film, so I wasn’t really looking forward to a sequel. I could see how Noyce thinks this is a complete story, for him at least.
Is there really anything to sequel from this film? It felt pretty complete to me.

I can’t believe anyone could say that this movie was complete in it’s first edition…. The ending with salt jumping out of an FBI helicopter over the Patomic and on the run, released to last words of “go get em” from a CIA counter intelligence officer, Left it wide open for a an incredible female loyal Rogue CIA agent to not only seek out remaining left over soviets but also any other enemies of the united states specifically rogue terrorists after Osama bin laden was killed. The plots could be perfect for our present state. Even interior espionage and terrorism, anything, the stories are endless and anjie is idea as an empowered strong confident amazing intelligent scorned woman. Please give us 3 more not just a trilogy.
Maybe they can get John woo to direct it.
The way I read it, is that he thinks that there could be interesting stories to tell with Salt, but that he has given his all with it. So working with fresh eyes directing these films could be a good idea.
