Peter Jackson is getting all geared up to film the first of two installments that will bring us the tale of The Hobbit, and on the shoulders and mounts of his camera operators will be the RED EPIC.
RED EPIC founder Jim Jannard announced director Peter Jackson will film “The Hobbit” entirely in 3D with RED EPIC digital cameras.
The EPIC cameras has 5K resolution, can shoot up to 120 frames per second and has a new HDRx mode for the highest dynamic range of many digital cameras made lately, according to reduser.net.
“I have always liked the look of Red footage,” Jackson said about using RED cameras. “I’m not a scientist or mathematician, but the image Red produces has a much more filmic feel than most of the other digital formats.”
Of course like anyone didn’t already see it coming, PJ’s return to the Shire will be in 3D, which the Red Epic is capable of capturing.
I am really itching to see how they play out this film, and Peter Jackson did amazing with Lord of the Rings, so I have no doubt he will treat The Hobbit well too.
