Shia LaBeouf Praises Transformers 3

After Shia LaBeouf publicly appologized for two of his films -Transformers Revenge of the Fallen and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – it seems a little odd that he is now showering his latest film with such praise.

Ramascreen quotes Shia:

This is, and I’m not just BS-ing you, it’s the best movie we’ve made of the three by far…The script is the best script we’ve had…The second movie, we were in the middle of a writers’ strike, writing on the go…The first movie, we had the discovery, and this movie really is the fruition of the rhythm we’ve created out of five years working together. I’m super proud of this movie.

He also said, he’s done with his character Sam Witwicky after TRANSFORMERS 3…

There’s no more for me, at least. I’m never going to do it again… This is the last one, so it’s balls-out. This is the best movie we’ve made, period, and that’s a unanimous decision by everybody. The sizzle reel that [Bay] has been showing everybody on set, it’s so outrageous. I’m very, very, very, very proud of it.

I wonder if they are even going to plan any more Transformers movies after this next one, or will Bay give it a break.

But no Sam in Transformers? I mean its not a deal breaker, but with any of the Transformers cartoons there was always a human sidekick and when it wasn’t Sam (Spike in the toons) it was his son Daniel.

So is this Shia making up for his verbal attacks on the previous film, or is he genuinely excited for Transformers 3?

  1. If this movie makes money (which it will) i can guarantee you 100% that they will make the 4th and it will not be made by Bay and i can guarantee you it will be in Cybertron … and it will suck!

  2. I remember when I first started using this site waaay back in the day when john was fliiping out with every little shred of transformers 1 news.

    Haven’t heard from him in a while…

    1. Because John hasn’t been with the site for over a year. And for almost a year before that he was barely present as he had his hands full with his own projects.

I have been Senior Editor of the site for a long time now.

  3. This machine wont stop anytime soon, and that’s not nesessarly a bad thing either.

Bay had his run, 3 yrs later we’ll see another guy take a crack at it.

  4. I commend him for being honest about what he’s been a part of. The only other actor that I can think of that has said I’m sorry for that movie was George Clooney for Batman & Robin. Shia being able to come and and speak his mind makes me respect him even more.

  5. Bay has already stated this is the last transformers movie, the news even appeared on this site, the whole production are done with it, the only thing left could be a reboot he said.

  6. Apologizing for making both those movies is kinda weird for an actor to do right?

Shit, I mean I get the whole “Fanboy” issue and trying to explain for coming up short and all (not really my opinion). But it seems weird to me.

    Dont Apologize Kid!
    Blame the Director! :)

as for part 3, I’m looking foeward to seeing what they do with it.

Shias been gettin too much bashin’ lately. He’s not a bad kid

    1. I think that’s just SHia’s personality though. He is a hard worker and takes pride in his work so for him to apologize is just something a great actor in the making is going to do.

But I agree, he has been getting a lot of crap lately.

    2. Yea, I agree. I have become somewhat of a Shia fan over the last few years, I really enjoyed Eagle Eye myself. He isnt the second coming of Charlton Heston or anything, but he is a decent actor and is getting better.

  7. Rodney, your knowledge of movies impresses me. I’ve seen countless arguments/debates you’ve had with commentors and you’ve always won. Hopefully one day when i am a director you wont bash me XD. Michael Bay is actually ONE of my inspirations but only because of his explosions. He makes explosions and robots interact very well.
    I obviously won’t do it as much…

I personally don’t think this will be the last transformers film because Bay doesn’t really have the creative ownership over the film series like how Nolan has it now. Nolan has the power to make another batman after part 3 but he as stated, will make the 3rd and final batman film because him and his brother has written it to be that way and has planned for it to be that way since the beginning.

Bay did not write Transformers, he only had visual representation of the films.

HOWEVER, if the studio felt like this is the last film for Bay’s triology they will end it… only to reboot it a few years down the line.

    Just my opinion…

    1. Its easy to “win” when you are expressing your opinion. No one’s opinion is wrong.

Discussion and clarification are not about “winning” and I most certainly am not always right.

      Still…. Thanks.

    2. I get what you’re saying, but Nolan doesn’t own Batman and although Bay didn’t write the Transfomer movies they’re as much his creations as the Batman films are Nolan’s. I wouldn’t be surprised to see both franchises brought back in a few years as reboots. With or without the current creative teams.

      1. Probably not the best example there either. Nolan’s Batman could easily be continued with another director working on that same foundation he established. Provided they keep the tone and canon the same, that franchise is easily sequelled even without Nolan.

        Nolan just set the standard.

      2. I just like it when people have a nice conversation without people saying your opinion is stupid.
        Thanks Pac.

If there is a sequel especially a 3rd one for any film studios should consider filming their movies back to back becuase for one actors get old(er looking), and in the case of Transformers they could’ve done a lot more story with Shia still being in high school and maybe through college.

  8. Am I correct in remembering that Fox publicly bashed Bay and Transformers 2 and then was taken off the third film? I never heard what Shia said about Transformers 2 but it must not have been anything so serious as to earn the wrath of Michael Bay. Either that or Shia has so much leverage over the success of the films (in the studio’s eyes) that he had to stay. This post interests me. I enjoyed parts of the prior two films but overall they were pretty weak. Maybe this one really is different. Part of me can’t see Shia brown nosing since his career has picked up pretty nicely.

    1. Fox was having an outright feud with Bay. Ultimately she was taken off the film because she was not contributing what Bay wanted out of her character, and frankly – good riddance.

Shia’s statements were more professionally stated, but his publicly apologized for both TF2 and Indy4 saying those films were not good.

  9. I think it’s a bit of both. He seems to acknowledge that a lot of it had to do with hte writer’s strike…as he claims ‘writing on the go’ but now with TF3 we see the results of both TF 1 and TF 2. This sounds like it’s THE finale we have been waiting for. I can’t wait :D
