Super 8 Cast Fills Out with Mostly Unknowns

Since things have already started filming in West Virginia, it makes sense that they would have their cast already set, but yesterday was the first we heard of who was in it. It was announced that Kyle Chandler and Elle Fanning were in the cast, and now we get to find out who the rest of the players are.

With a mix of relative knowns and some unknowns, Cinemablend gives us the roster:

J.J. Abrams’ Super 8, and adds a few more names to the mix as well. Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich, Gabriel Basso, Joel Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee and Zach Mills will be joining the production, which got started in West Virginia just yesterday.

I don’t know who at least half of these people are, and the other half I am just guessing.

Abrams said he was aiming for unknowns for the film, and it looks like he is pretty close to that goal.

But the real star will be the monster/alien. Which of course we won’t see until the film comes out.

  1. Ron Eldard and Noah Emmerich are hardly unknowns. Probably best known for his “ER” role, Eldard also had continuing roles in “Men Behaving Badly” and “Blind Justice.” And Noah Emmerich is currently on “White Collar” on USA. Both have been in the business for a while (and their IMDb filmography lists have more entries than Kyle Chandler’s). :) Even though I’m a fan of all three actors, and I like most of Abrams’ work, I doubt I see this one. Particularly if it is a sequel/prequel to “Cloverfield.”
