Dominic Cooper is Howard Stark in Captain America

In Iron Man 2 it was revealed that Howard Stark was one of the founding members of SHIELD, and speculation grew that we would then get to see some of that Stark family history in the World War 2 era Captain America film.

And now it is confirmed as Dominic Cooper confirms he will be playing the younger ambitious Stark.

/Film says:

We saw Howard Stark, father of Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) in Iron Man 2, played by John Slattery in his best Walt Disney tribute mode. We’ve known that the character would be a part of Captain America: The First Avenger, but not who would play him. Now Dominic Cooper says he’s the man.

I really liked Cooper in Mad Men, and I think he would fit the era perfectly. He even bears a resemblance to the Slattery who portrays Howard Stark in Iron Man 2.

I can buy him as the same guy.

  1. Awesome, I really like Cooper. He was excellent in The History Boys and An Education, and he really looks like he could be related to RDJ. Plus he’s really good at playing snarky characters, so maybe will get a sense of where Tony gets it.
