Stiller and Theroux writing Zoolander 2

Zoolander might just be my favourite Ben Stiller comedy. That film was just filled with such deliciously silly scenarios and dialogue that has me smiling just thinking of it. Even thinking of the very tragic freak gasoline fight accident has me laughing.

Cinematical shares:

Paramount and Stiller are teaming up for a PG-13 Zoolander 2. And as much as I’ve expressed my trepidation in 2006 and 2008, they’ve gone and grabbed the one man who will make me see it. The Evil DJ — otherwise known as Justin Theroux — will write and direct the sequel.

Stiller’s wife and oft co-star Christine Taylor is easy on the eyes, and likely the movie will pick up with Zoolander getting the itch to model again and putting aside his duties at the Derek Zoolander Center For Children Who Can’t Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too, perhaps reteaming up with Hansel (He’s so hot right now), but Owen Wilson hasn’t signed on to the deal… yet. Come on, you know he will!

And while I couldn’t think ANYTHING could rain and that really really rediculously good looking parade of comedy gold, they announce that Jonah Hill is in negotiations to play the badguy replacing the dethroned Mugatu as the leader of the fashion world.

Hill is just negotiating, so lets hope his plate gets full and he has to pass on this one. But then maybe he will do it and surprise the crap out of me with some over the top character like Zoolander delivers… aww who am I kidding. He will be the same Attention Deficit dork he is in everything else.

  1. Yeah, Bruno did suck Balls….

so did that poor little asian guy.(my ass hurts from just watchin’ him ride the exercise bike)

    only disturbing, not really funny.

    1. Sorry man. Bruno was NOT funny at all.

It failed for every reason the first one was a success. Lightning cannot strike twice in the same spot.

Borat was genius, and hilarious from beginning to end. All because the people he spoke to in character didn’t know they were being punked. The sequel Bruno? Wasn’t even smartly played and no one thought he was amusing. He was just doing intrusive uncomfortable stuff in public waiting for an eyebrow to raise.

Its blasphemous that you compare Bruno to this.

  2. Pshaw!! I love Hill. I can already see how he’d be in this film, and I’ve personally likes his other roles (you should see “Ten Items or Less”.

I’m excited for this. LOVE Stiller.

  3. Okay…let me set some of you guys straight. Zoolander is freaking awesome. If you eliminate the Andy Dick cameo scene and the stupid 2001 homage, you have a flawless comedy. WAY better than Starsky & Hutch. I will go to the mat with anyone that disagrees with me on this one!

That said, the prospect of a sequel excites the hell out of me. But they have to get Owen Wilson. If he does not return, all is lost. The interplay between Hansel and Derrick is a critical component of the film’s awesomeness.

  4. If this does go ahead then Stiller needs to get Owen Wilson back on board and not just for a brief cameo performance. It’s a film which needs two strong leads or else it will end up becoming repetitive with Stiller trying to do too much.

  5. WOW!

If I had to choose another film w/ both these guys returning, I’d have to pick Starsky and Hutch instead of this one.

That had to be Will Ferells most grating performances(and he’s got his share)ever!

The gas station scene was Hilarious BTW but hardly a reason to go back.
