  1. Robin Hood? Is it the 4th remake of Robin Hood or what? Really?

    Well… for me:

    1) Machete
    2) Iron Man 2
    3) Tron Legacy
    4) The A Team
    5) Alice in Wonderland
    6) Kick Ass
    7) Clash of Titans
    8) Prince of Persia
    9) The Wolfman
    10) Inception

    :)

    1. I find it ironic that you comment on Robin Hood being the 4th remake (its had more than that between TV and Movies) implying there is something wrong with that and then mention Alice in Wonderland and The Wolfman as anticipated for you.

Both of those have seen numerous remakes and adaptations based on the classic tales.

In fact, with the exception of Machete and Inception, everything on your list is a sequel, remake or adaptation of something that came before.

  2. Hi Brock

First of all i would like to say i think you are doing a great Job and a welcome addition to TMB.. my suggestion would be give us your top 10 and then the general 10..giving us a wider view

Anywho here’s my top 11 (have to be different) Most Anticipated movie’s this year.

    Shutter island
    Kick Ass
Machete (have you seen the cast OMG!)
    Green Zone
    Iron Man 2
The Expendables (same note as machete)
Inviticus (Im in Australia, not released yet)
    The A Team
    The Book of Eli
    Alice in Wonderland
    Inception

Honurable mentions Harry P, Clash of Titans,Predators, Robin Hood..

    Slightly odd choices

The Karate Kid purley cause i probably watched the original over 20 times while i was growing up.

Born to be a star – Adam Sandler is an idiot but i love the premise of this movie and he showed me something different in Funny People.

last but by no means least least… Red – sounds pretty formulaic however Morgan Freeman, Bruce Willis and to add some extra class Helen Mirren, i cant see this being a bad movie.

  3. Did that say part 1 at the end of yet another Harry Potter flick?
    FUNNY..

    1]Ironman 2
    2]Clash of the titans
    3]Kick Ass
    4]Shutter Island
    5]Toy Story 3

    I’m sure theres a few more…

Nolan issue: Liked both The Prestige and Memento..great flicks! The Bat films are another story-Batman Begins was so-so while Dark Knight was steller.

Inception could be great or could be another Vanilla Sky. Well see

Burton issue: I like him, although Apes blew major chunks most of the movie, Wahlberg should of not have been anywhere near that film. and I’m kinda gettin tired of seeing his wife in “like” every one of his friggin’ films..

Willy Wonka had its moments but f’d up the upa-loopas bigtime!

    RDJ= always great!

      1. That’s what you think. Gamer and The Bourne Ultimatum ruled despite the fact that camera was shaky.

From a debate above: I really agree with you, Nolan’s great and Inception should be looked forward to, but saying that someone’s opinion sucks just because they don’t agree with you is not cool.

Just sayin’: Watch movies with an intention of loving it. Don’t try to find plot holes from the beginning.

  4. that is so whack, i see no hype in IRON 2, but just because everyone including guys are in love with rober downrey jr. the movie is going to be hype, Many im going for clash of the titan and alice in wonderland!

  5. 1. The Expendables
    2. After Life
    3. Repo Men
    4. The Green Hornet
    5. Hot Tub Time Machine
    6. The Wolfman
    7. Daybreakers
    8. The Book of Eli
    9. The A-Team
    10. Salt

    1. Correct, instead of putting what the movies were about, I should have put in my own 2 cents. Live and learn.. Next time I’ll throw in my opinion instead of what the movies are about.

  6. I agree Clash is going to be Great!!!! Worthington deserves his success and is a cooler guy it seems then anyone else in hollywood. He wont o.d. on pills I hope. Why is twilight on this list? Watch True Blood on HBO those movies suck man.

Where in Inception. Fuck! thats number 2 at least.

  7. 1. Inception
    2. Kick Ass
    3. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:Part1
    4. Legion
    5. Iron Man 2
    6. A Nightmare On Elm Street
    7. Prince of Persia
    8. Shutter Island
    9. The Last Airbender
    10. Alice in Wonderland

    For now atleast!

  8. Seeing how bloody awful New Moon was for me, I don’t want to go to Eclipse. But that’s probably the nicest trailer I’ve seen for any of the films, so interest-meter has crept back up to three.

  9. My List:

1.Harry Potter(Harry Potter films will always be my favorite movies. Im very sad to see the series end after part 2. The books are also wonderful and ive read all of them twice)

2.Alice and Wonderland(I love Tim Burton movies and plus Alice and wonderland was an awesome movie)

3.Nightmare on elm(I’m ready to see if somebody finally makes a good remake. )

4.Eclipse(Im not a big fan of twilight. The only one I really liked in the books was breaking dawn, which im excited to see. New moon was a sucky book, but ended up a good movie. I wanna see what they’ll do with this)

  10. This is a good list of all the big, blockbuster movies coming out next year! Some of them I am really excited about, like Alice in Wonderland and Iron Man 2. But there are also some smaller films coming out next year that I hope will be great as well, like Peter Weir’s new movie, The Way Back. I think he is a very talented director and its been seven years since his last film. I really hope this new film is like his first two, The Last Wave and Picnic at Hanging Rock.

  11. Heres the thing Twilight should NOT be above HP in anticipation because HP actually has a legit story, whereas Twilight is just a bunch annoying grimacing teens that could be any other trashy teen novel.

slash I cannot wait for Iron Man 2. That is totally my #1

  12. 10. The Expendables
    9. Predators
    8. Daybreakers
    7. A Nightmare on Elm Street
    6. Toy Story 3
    5. Harry Potter
    4. Kick-Ass
    3. Alice in Wonderland
    2. The Wolf Man
    1. Iron Man 2

Anything else, I really don’t care about.

  13. I disagree with Eclipse, but I’m might check that one out, just because Slade is attached.

Wow, what the fuck is wrong with me?

    Mine is:

    1. Iron Man 2
    2. Deathly Hallows Part 1
    3. Kick Ass
    4. Robin Hood
    5. Clash of the Titans

  14. Really, Iron Man? Anticipated? I must have been watching a different movie than everyone else, because the first one was so average. I remember thinking it ranked up there with the fantastic four movie (lame, in other words).
Robert Downy Jr. acts the same in every movie I have seen him in. Fast talking, smarmy, and always quick to recover from anything thrown at him. Iron man was forgettable. Instantly. Iron Man 2 looks even more forgettable. At least the Hulk reboot had a really good actor in it and played more to the dark side of things rather than the campy Iron Man. I am not overly disgusted because I was a so-so fan of the comic book. Iron man 2 is on my must miss list this year, never mind the over-hyped, must see #1 movie you have slated for it.

    1. Yes, you must have been watching a different movie. Because Iron Man was every bit of what it was supposed to be. And RDJ does NOT act the same in every movie he is in. Try watching a couple.

Must miss? Good thing you discredited yourself with that brilliant assumption about RDJs acting so we don’t have to pay attention to that part either.

  15. Oh and the A Team….man I was totally against this at first, then I saw the cast and was sold, and even more so from the promo picture. I also like the idea of making it a hardcore action movie> I just hope the humor from the TV show is still present, that’s was part of the appeal at least for me. But damn that casting is sopt on, everyone looks the part, and we know Neeson can deliver the goods, Cooper is proving to be a very capable actor, Copely will hopefully be good because he rocked in District 9. Can’t say I know much about Rampage Jackson, but seriously, Mr. T was not a good actor and he played B.A. just fine, so even if Jackson is merely a passable actor he will be fine, as long as he can kick ass and he looks like he can. Probably in my top three of what I am looking forward to most next year.

  16. Not a bad list with the exception of Twilight which is emo teen garbage, the movies are not even well made from a technical standpoint, but regardless I know many are looking forward to the next one. Alice in Wonderland? Ehhhhh….I dunno, IMO, Burton is 0 for 2 with remakes.

Planet Of The Apes – was a horrible horrible movie. I normally like Mark Walhberg, but he was horribly miscast, and the ape makeup, while good, was not all that much better than the original the was 30 years its senior. The twist sucked, but in all fairness it was going to suck no matter what it was because of the fact that we were expecting it. That’s the beauty of the original, when you first see it, it blindsides you, you don’t see it coming. For the remake, you know it’s coming, therefore it lessens the impact of whatever it is. In this case, the twist sucked even though we knew it was coming, at least it could have been something better. It brought nothing new at all to the Planet Of The Apes story.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – I know a lot of people liked this, but I loathed it. I realize most of the kids are supposed to be obnoxious brats and I can handle that, and they were even worse in the remake then they were in the far superior original. I felt that Willy Wonka’s back story was totally unnecessary and added nothing to the story, it was just filler. Oh and Willy Wonka himself. A despicable mean asshole. Gene Wilder’s Willy was way better, sure he gets a bit mean in the end but turns out to be a good guy. Depp’s Wonka just made me want to punch him in the face.

I just hope Burton doesn’t wreck Alice the way he did the two previous classics he crapped on. It shows promise, but that’s what I thought about Planet of the Apes and Charlie.

  17. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this is a list of most anticipated movies for the “general” public. That being said, it only stands to reason that it would be full of tent pole movies and expected blockbusters. Those of us that visit this site and others like it should not be considered part of the general movie going populace. Except it or not people, but we are in the vast minority of people that go to the movies. Most people haven’t scoured the net for information about movies not due out for years down the line. Most people see a trailer or here about a movie from friends or see a making of vignette on E or HBO/Showtime and say hey that looks cool. Movies like Twilight might be crap, but you can bet your ass that there are 100 million teenage girls chomping at the bit to see the third one.

  18. 1. It’s Kind of a Funny Story
    2. Kick-Ass
    3. Iron Man 2
    4. Cop Out
    5. Robin Hood
    5. Clash of the Titans
    6. Toy Story 2
    7. Jonah Hex
    8. Prince of Persia
    9. Inception
    10. Alice in Wonderland

  19. 1. Iron Man 2 (making a movie as good as Iron Man one will be very difficult, I’m hoping though!)

    2. Tron 2 (this is the movie I’m most curious about, will it be awesome or awful….)If it follows disney pattern this one will be great and the next one will be horrible.

    3. Toy Story 3 (this will no doubt be good. But I’m hoping for fantastic 3D visuals to come out of pixar. This will be my final piece of evidence for the gimmick debate. If 3D doesn’t rock this movie then screw it)

    4. Robin Hood and Clash of the Titans are tied for 4th. I won’t be surprised if both of them are not that good. Titans looks too effects heavy so far. Not sure why directors still think effects equal great movie. Hope there’s a good movie in there.

  20. 1. Iron Man 2
    2. Clash of the Titans
    3. Kick-Ass
    4. Scot Pilgrim vs. the World
    5. Inception
    6. Jonah Hex
    7. the Wolfman
    8. Robin Hood
    9. Prince of Persia
    10. The Last Airbender

    1. Just because it was bad (to you), doesn’t mean that it will be bad again.

The story for the third book was great. Lots more action, and more character conflict. Less moping and emo whining. I am actually looking forward to seeing how they do it.

  21. 1. Iron Man 2
    2. Clash of the Titans
    3. The Expendables
    4. Shutter Island
    5. Legion
    6. Hot Tub Time Machine
    7. Robin Hood
    8. Inception
    9. Predators
    10. Kick-Ass/The A-Team/Daybreakers/Nightmare on Elm Street/The Wolfman

  22. 1. Predators
    2. The Wolfman
    3. Clash of the Titans
    4. Inception
    5. Despicable Me
    6. Alice in Wonderland
    7. Micmacs à tire-larigot
    8. Iron Man 2
    9. The Expendables
    10. The Last Airbender

  23. Here’s mine:

    10- Inception

    9- Jonah Hex

    8- Knight & Day

    7- Predators

    6- Robin Hood

5- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

    4- The Green Hornet

    3- Clash Of The Titans

    2- Iron Man 2

    1- Tron Legacy

*** Also on The Seeler’s radar: Machete, Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, and Dinner For Schmucks ***

  24. 1. The Way Back (Dir. Peter Weir)
    2. Inception (Dir. Christopher Nolan)
    3. The Tree of Life (Dir. Terrence Malick)
    4. Hereafter (Dir. Clint Eastwood)
    5. Robin Hood (Dir. Ridley Scott)
    6. The Social Network (Dir. David Fincher)
    7. Shutter Island (Dir. Martin Scorsese)
    8. The Ghost Writer (Dir. Roman Polanski)
    9. Black Swan (Dir. Darren Aronofsky)
    10. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One (Dir. David Yates)

    1. Of all the lists here, this is easily the best one. I’d add Micmacs and Crazy Heart (technically 09) to the mix.

I’d have to do some research, but for my money, you’re not gonna get much better than Malick, Fincher, Polanski and Aronofsky.

  25. 1. Iron Man 2
    2. Alice in Wonderland
    3. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
    4. Clash of the Titans
    5. Inception
    6. Robin Hood
    7. Prince of Persia
    8. Toy Story 3
    9. A-Team
    10.Nightmare on Elm Street

  26. Alice in Wonderland is my No1 by far. Harry Potter, Iron Man and Robin Hood are the only movies from that list that i really want to see.

The ones that come to mind right now that they are not in this list are

    The Book of Eli
    Inceprtion
    Shutter Island

  27. I think it would’ve been nice if you had wrote a little about your personal opinion on the film underneath the posters rather then the description of the movie.
Because we come to the Movie Blog for opinions (it is the official home of the correct ones) and also I’m pretty sure if these are high on our anticipation list we’ll probably know all about them anyways.

      1. Agreed. Aside from “this looks good” and “I put Twilight here because I want to see it, but I will deny it to maintain my manhood” I just dont see any reason to put bits on each film.

        ;)

      1. The reason why we have average intelligence above and genius is because most people are average intelligence and are not entertained but thinking. They go to films so they are not thinking about their sad lives at the moment the American Economy and So they love watching these love stories that have been told thousands of time but what story has not been told a million times.

  28. I can’t believe this list…HELLO Brock wake up!

Inception? Come on! “From the director of The Dark Knight”…..isn’t that enough to make the list of Top 10 anticipated list.

You gotta be kidding me, how can you forget Inception? Its Chris Nolan for God’s sake, if you want more proof->look at the star cast!

    1. Inception looks good, but I think a lot of attention and credit is given to Nolan after his Dark Knight success.

Honestly if Nolan was not attached and we were exposed to all the same publicity about the film we would just be mildly curious about it. They havent revealed much about the plot or premise (except that it takes place partly in a dreamscape) and the trailers have been more confusing, yet visually appealing.

People are pumped on blind faith. If it wasn’t King Nolan this would be a curious blip on the radar that people would wait to see a review about before going to see.

      1. Well Nolan has my attention but I think is Dicaprio is the best actor alive and working today, so that and Hanz Zimmer amazing musical score as always is not hurting I have to agree but it never came to Mind.

Ironically I just watched the trailer.

        Iron Man

        Robin Hood

        Inception

      2. @slashbeast
nope, I was hyped for X-Men and i had no clue who Bryan Singer was at the time. but most of that goes to me loving x-men cartoons and comics.

      1. Thats true Brock but his resume alone is enough for one to have a blind faith in him.

        I’m pumped for this!
I’m sure Brock, Rodney, etc. will like this one if not love it!
We have to wait only a few months now

      2. I am siding with Kal and SlashBeast here. I really like The Prestige and I also enjoyed Memento. I went and watched each of his films and have been very impressed so I am looking forward to Inception on blind faith.

    1. my top ten movies to look foward to are
10.nightmare on elmstreet which the first five minutes of the teaser was good
      9.the Losers
      8.the exendables

3.knight and day stars tom curise and cameron diaz
      first time since vanlina sky
