HD Avatar Trailer Online

Last week we got to see the full trailer for Avatar, but as of that time, a full HD version had yet to make the rounds. Well over the weekend it was posted at legitimate hosts where it wouldn’t be ganked, so in case you missed it, I am putting it up here.

Its also fun to watch again. And for all those people barking that this looks nothing better than a video game, I am really curious as to what games you are playing because I would LOVE to play something that looks this real!

  1. The wait is finally over…Gone are the days of Titanic, bring back the Cameronator i learned to worship!!! after 10 years of diving in the ocean it was about time…

  2. I’ll have to admit, nothing can kill the excitement I have for this movie coming out; however, the first trailer was a little underwhelming, though I still liked everything I saw. Then I saw the 15min of footage and attributed the underwhelming feeling I had for the original trailer to the fact it was 2D when the movie was meant to be in 3D. That because of this the 2D was of course not going to be as good, since the movie was designed fully around a 3D experience. I must say, though, after this new trailer I think the movie is going to be just as good in 2D as it will be in 3D. It got me just and pumped and excited as the 3D footage I saw to heights the first trailer did not. Cannot wait!

    1. That game did look good, but come on… no way I would say it comes close to Avatar, though. The biggest difference is poly count. You can make some highly realistic graphics on the current gen system, and the secret in that is mainly the texture work. However, there are limits that go into the game. You are restricted by texture sizes, poly counts, number of polys that can be on screen at once, number of textures used to maximize hardware performance. Movies don’t have these restrictions. The only restrictions they have are based on what the systems can handle until and still be able to render. They don’t have to rely on normal maps to create details, they can add the details and continue to increase poly count without the worry of performance of a real time game engine. The real details always look better than the normal map, no matter how good the normal map might be. Look at it this way, you take a high poly model that is all textured out, now place that next to the low poly model used for a game all textured out… though the low poly might look awesome, the high poly is still going to look so much better.

Avatar doesn’t have to worry about the low poly, and it is that reason it will look better than any game. Rendered scenes don’t have to worry about real time playability and system performance.

      1. Ya, but the day that comes it will be amazing… and maybe by then we will be on a new level of game play not restricted by a 2D set box. Oh the possibilities! I’m still hoping for affordable high performance VR and/or huge leaps in augmented reality to spur the gaming experience into new levels!

      1. well yh i can admit i commented before i watched it in H/Q so sorry about that but killzone 2 was like my first ps3 game and putting that on the first time after playing ps2 games for years. its a real shock.

thats easy…there isnt one….this movie looks amazing…any one who says it doesnt is a serious pessamistic person ….and the story about doing the right thing is perfect for cameron (greatest director ever) my only problem is that i hate michelle rodriguez…she is so one dimensional and gets tiring to me….GOD DAM THAT SMIRK…cant wait wooot

  4. I have already watched this trailer abotu 50 times and the crappy bootleg one at least 5 times just waiting for this version.

I hate over watching trailers but I just didn’t have the willpower. I am absolutely going apeshit over how incredible i’m ready for this film to be.

Of course with expectations like that disappointment isn’t far behind but maybe just maybe this one time a movie can spark some magic and transcend even my ludicrous expectations.
