X-Men 4 Is Still On The Table

Now this is interesting. There have already been 4 films based on the X-Men (X-Men 1, 2, 3 and this summer’s Wolverine). As some of you know, there are plans in motion for no less than 4 other films (Deadpool, Magneto, Wolverine 2 and X-Men: First Class).

It looks like you can add at least two more to that list. At a recent press event to promote the Wolverine Blu-Ray release, producer Lauren Shuler Donner (who has been a producer on all the X-Men films so far) dropped a bomb by saying they are also seriously looking at doing a full fledged “X-Men-4″ film, bring together all the original cast again.

She also mentioned possible plans for adapting “The New Mutants” into a film. The New Mutants were another team of younger mutants at the Xavier School For The Gifted.

It has already been reported that X-Men 1 and 2 director Bryan Singer has expressed interest in returning to the X-Men universe, but no indication on which of the developing projects he’d want to attach himself to (if any at all).

I’d love to see an X-Men 4 film with Singer at the helm. But is it realistic? Didn’t they screw it up too much to bring it all back together? (Cyclops dead, Jean dead, Professor X dead… well… sort of). This will be interesting. (source: Screen Rant)

  1. by natural means appreciate your web page but you ought to analyze the particular spelling on several of the blogposts. Many of possibilities filled using spelling concerns i locating this really frustrating to share with the facts on the flip side I will absolutely come back just as before.

  2. I think it can be done to set-up a potential two or three film set if done right. You can introduce Mr. Sinister who, in the comics, was always after the genteic material of cyclops and jean grey. Anyone hear of clones?!?! Have sinister working for Apocalypse and it sets up the 4 horsemen to make an appearance, although in a different way. Angel will become Arch Angel. Cyclops and Jean are the other two as they are reintroduced as clones and under the control of Sinister. And a very interesting thing i think would be great would be to make Prof. X the 4th horseman. Being in a new body he no longer has the abilities he had as a mutant. He no longer can be a figurehead for the cause he fought for. Apocalypse can then tempt him with the promise of returning his mutant abilities and thus falls under his control. This sets up some great character interactions between the x mean and the forces of apocalypse.

  3. If they choose to do any other X-films I really think they should do either a muir island based film as someone said earlier. Or, even though it may take more then 1 or 2 films, Age of Apocolypse. Those two storylines are IMO two of the best and could at the same time introduce new mutants to the series. Especially X-MAN and CABLE

  4. They didn’t mess it up nearly enough to not be fixed. The X-Men universe is one of the largest and most self-contradicory mythos is comic books. They could easily bring back characters and put the franchise back on track for Wolverine 4. Oops, er, I mean X-Men 4.

  5. Ever since The Last Stand, I’ve always hoped for the franchise to introduce Havok (Alexander Summers) into the film. I always thought a storyline of him trying to find his brother or what happened to him would be great.

  6. Or if they don’t wanna ignore Last Stand I think it would be cool to have a story from the animated series in the 90s where Bishop was sent back in time to save Xavier from dieing. Have a movie where Bishop goes back to before Last Stand and changes something where the events of that movie don’t happen.

  7. I would love an X-Men 4.

I would prefer a Muir Island story, but…I kinda feel a Days Of Futures Past story coming on.

Think about it. If someone wanted to save Senator Kelly from being killed, it could alter a timeline to the point where Jean Grey did not use Cerebro which in turn would not ignite the inner Phoenix; which in turn she would not have killed (?) Scott/Cyclops, Professor X (well, sort of) Arclight, Psyclocke and Quill, 10000000 soldiers…

..and she herself would not be killed by Logan.

  8. Professor X, Cyclops, and Jean have each died multiple times in the comics. It’s not that hard to imagine they could come up with some reason why they aren’t dead…

  9. Spoiler alert for X-Men 3 here,

this is to somewhat clear up the whole cyclops, jean, prof x dead issue. You figure since at the end of the movie Prof X appears again, you might be able to assume that all 3 are still alive. Also with magneto somewhat getting his powers back, all mutants who got the cure will eventually get their powers back to. Bottom line, X-Men 3 started and ended in the exact same place storywise.

  10. I always thought the story from X-Men 1 would make the best film. Too bad.
Hey, how about we bring back Ratner, ahve him kill everyone else off, and reboot this franchise in about 4 years a la Batman Begins?

  11. Bryan Singer made Superman Returns as if ti was the 3rd movie instead of the fifth and I say he does the same with X-Men 3. Ratner trashed his X-Men story with his horrible rendition of The Phoenix Saga. I can only imagine how epic Singer’s X-3 could have been. I say wipe the slate clean and let him finish the story his way.

  12. John, I know you dont like all the people they killed, but lets look at what they do have:

Beast, Iceman, Angel, Wolverine, Storm, Collosus, bring back Nightcrawler (why not?) and they can always introduce new characters like Sunfire, Jubillee or Havoc

And they can bring back Magneto (Which i am AGAINST, hes been in 3 movies and now hes getting his origins movie) or use Sinestro or/and Apocalipse.

I read a post somewhere about a fake rumor a long time ago, that the next movie would be called X-Men: A New Dawn. It was a stupid rumor but it kept afloat for a while.

This movie has a lot of possibilities, i dont see why it cant happen.

    The young X-Men movie however…

  13. If anyone can bring back the X-men franchise it’s Singer. Whether it’s X4 or preferably Wolverine 2, Singer could set the series straight again for the next trilogy.

Forget about the New Mutants flick, and if they continue w/ X4 u can cross First Class off the list…for now.

Either way Wolverine will continue, but bringing Singer back is exciting to think about.

  14. *falling out of my chair* oh my gosh!!! I’d love to see them make an X-Men 4 movie…but how are they going to do it?? I don’t know much about The X-Men other then the movies….more the better I always say!!

  15. Hmmm, It would have to be a very perculier story or silly affair for an X4 to work in my opinion, I don’t want to see the new bunch of mutants, I want to see the X-men.

Imo they have already screwed the majority of the charactors in the first 3 films, I enjoyed them to some degree and can watch them again, but they arn’t the X-men I know, and they arn’t the X-men I would want to see again.

      1. You weren’t curious at all about what happened to him? He just sort of disappeared off the map. He could have played a very interesting part in the fight of X3.

Interesting. You’re the first person I’ve discussed this with that was actually(apparently) glad that Nightcrawler wasn’t in X3.

      2. Oh no, I was definitely curious as to what happened to him between the 2nd and 3rd film, but I’d played the video game for X-Men 3 so I already knew.

I was glad he wasn’t in X-Men 3, especially the way that movie turned out, I think he was generiusly spared.

I liked him most in X-Men 2 in the introduction scene where he kicked a whole bunch of ass. But after that he pretty much didn’t do anything and never lived up to that introduction scene.
