Brad Pitt In Talks To Be Moriarty In Sherlock Holmes 2

This could be one hell of a bad ass casting call if it works out. The newest incarnation of the world’s greatest detective, Sherlock Holmes, isn’t set to hit theaters until Christmas, but already there is movement on a possible sequel.

Guy Ritchie (who also directed such films as “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels”, “Snatch” and “RocknRolla”) directs this most recent interpretations of the classic Arthur Conan Doyle characer with a cast that includes Jude Law, Rachel McAdams, Mark Strong and Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes.

But Warner Bros. is already looking forward to adding to that list for the sequel. Reports claim that the film’s producers have already begun discussions with Brad Pitt to come on board “Sherlock Holmes 2″ to play Holmes’ most infamous nemesis, Professor Moriarty.

At this point Pitt has not signed, nor has any official decision been reached about the future of the Holmes franchise.

Personally, I hope this works out. I’ve always thought Pitt was a vastly underrated actor, and to see him play a classic villain like Professor Moriarty would rule! But that’s just me.

How about you? Are you looking forward to the new Sherlock Holmes? If so, what would you think of Brad Pitt as Moriarty?

I really can’t see Brad Pitt as Professor Moriarty. My pick for the role would be the brilliant Marc Warren. More well-known for his extensive television work on British television, but he is absolutely great playing villains and is excellent as either a dramatic or comedic actor. I’d love to see him matching wits with Robert Downey, Jr.

  3. I am definitely looking forward to the Sherlock Holmes flick! Downey will rule!

Bringing on Pitt for a possible Moriarty face-off would be truly great casting!

Let’s hope the movie lives up to the expectations!

    1. Agree, guys like him, Leo, and Depp often overlooked by awards despite how brilliant they’re as an actors because their good looking and their poster used to hang on teeny boopers bedroom

  4. Wasn’t there a net rumor a couple of months ago that the studio was not happen with the villain, and that Guy Ritchie got Brad Pitt to come in and film cameos as Moriarty as to help drive the story as well as set up for a bigger battle of the minds in a sequel

  5. This will start out with Pitt ‘attached’then he will drop out to do another film. Happens all the time with this guy, he is seriously in demand all the time. He would be good though.

  6. I am the only person I know that thinks Sherlock Holmes is going to be a horrible movie. I expect it to make a ton of money but I am positive the reviews will be bad. The trailer looks as cheesy and campy as the Spiderman movies.

  7. I like Brad Pitt as an actor. That said I am going to need one of his best performances to believe him as PROFESSOR Moriarty. Has he played an highly intelligent charater before?

  8. I’m becoming more of a Brad Pitt fan. He was hilarious in Burn After Reading, he was amazing in Benjamin Button, and he almost stole the movie for me in Inglorious Basterds.

Has he won an oscar yet?

    1. He was also genius in Fight Club, Twelve Monkeys, and Meet Joe Black. In fact, I cannot think of a role I did not like him in, even in movies that I was not a fan of. He never disappoints.

  9. I think this could be a ploy to get more hype for the first film, or it could be that it’s looking to the studio that the film is “that good”

It’s certainly perked my interest that they are already looking at a sequel and Brad Pitt would be a welcome addition to most films.
