Hader and Apatow to bring House of Joel

Saturday Night Live’s Bill Hader and Judd Apatow are plotting a comedy slasher of a different kind.

Film Junk quotes Hader describing the premise:

I love true crime shows. The idea of that thing coming to your house, and what do you do? I would shit my pants. That’s basically what the movie is about. What if that guy decided to come to your house? What would you and your dipshit friends do about it?

Everyone knows that guy who watches movies that says “If Jason ever came after me I would fuck his shit up. Why are they all so scared? Damn pussies!!”

And you know that if you call them on it, they will just persist the lie puffing up their empty chest full of bravado insisting that if a supernatural killer just chopped off his best friend’s head right in front of him that he wouldn’t be jogged emotionally at all.

This film is for him.

Also, I like that this is going to squash the stereotype that there will be one troubled underdog in the group that has a history of abuse or just has enough of being pushed around and musters up the courage to fight back and manages to overcome the killer in a brave rage filled backlash. Fortunately that poor soul who just overcame their life long fears, now has to deal with the slaughter of all their friends to deal with emotionally for the remainder of their rescued life.

I think this is in good hands, and I can’t wait to hear more.
